Exquisite Grenache plum and leathery Syrah jump from the glass with a dusty touch of non-Brett barnyard. Black cherry, licorice, burnt rye toast, blackberry, raspberry reduction, and violet aromas. Big blackberry and luxardo cherry opener, with black currant and ripe black plum. Smooth edges all around here, with grape leaf, and a grape or two too. Touches of mint with bitter chocolate expressions make this a dance of equestrian beauty as saddle leather sage and dark cigar coat the finish. Bolero. .

1990 vintage in magnum. Veuve Cliquot Cave Privee Rose at Mark's Club Veuve Clicquot dinner - Pale peach in colour with good radiance. Constant stream of small bubbles. Lovely concentrated nose of red fruits and freshly cut figs. As the wine gradually opens in the glass, candied strawberries with freshly baked cherry tart rise to prominence. Very elegant across the palate with good weight and a long lingering finish. This is a big, sexy, voluptuous wine. There is nothing subtle here. Think Sophia Lauren in a sable bolero over Deborah Kerr in a lily white dress. This magnum was disgorged in 2011. 93/100. Drink now to 2030.

Domaine Reitsch Tout Blanc 2020 Alsatian 50% Reisling 50% Auxerrois. My bottle has a man in a jacket, boots, and bolero hat carrying two green bottles. But the way he is standing I imagine the bottles are hiding two guns like a character in a Robert Rodriguez film — Desperado Tout Blanc. This is a zippy wine, mouth puckering acidity, apple, some slate minerality. This will be happily paired with cheese like Munster and Comte. — 3 years ago

Not really a fan of white wine other than Sauvignon Blanc but... this bottle is very good. Medium body, oaky, lots of leg and length. I’d categorize this more on the Chardonnay side as it is not sweet yet not dry either. — 4 years ago
Lots of fruit could use more beerness — 7 years ago
Very good rosa — 10 years ago
