Notes of saffron, white pepper and spice box on the nose.
On the palete, the wine explodes. Linze torte, boysenberry and camphor fight for your attention. Incredible Rhone varietal — 8 years ago
At this point, while my nerve endings have left the building. THIS bad boy came to play ball.
The nose is sexy with caramel, linze torte and spice box. Palette is lithe and compact. Ultra ripe fruits that are not coying. Huge length. Sense of place shines through. The night is still young, but this one is knocking very hard on the door of brilliance. Wifey concurs. — 8 years ago
This was on the bubble. Fully mature, but drinking perfectly now. A shade too much oak on the nose and palate. Tannins are close to resolved, and not too much acidity to talk about. Still fruit dominant with black cherries and linze torte. Consume with the next 12 - 24 months. — 3 years ago
The tsunami has arrived. Pure merlot with no escape valve. Tight and compact, with exceptional oak treatment. Notes of expresso, linze torte and a layering of ripe dark fruits. First Masseto and it could not be better. This has another 15 yrs of runway ahead of it. — 8 years ago
On the nose, white pepper hits first. Then candied fruits and smoke unfurl.
On the palette, the tannins are a touch green, which is what I would expect from a Rhone of this age. The mouthfeel is plush and complemented with linze torte and barrel toast. Acidity is perfect. The components need to come together. This should hit 93 pts 3 years from now. Judging by the scores, mine is an outlier, which I attribute to my idiosyncratic taste.
A wonderful gift from my good friend @Martin G Rivard. Thank you so much. — 8 years ago
Opulent nose of cherries, spice box. Palate presents linze torte and tar. Very plush on the mid palate, with weight and density. Needs more time in the bottle, but presents beautifully now. — 6 years ago
Soaring aromatics. It possesses a young, fresh nose of overripe cherries, tobacco and Linze torte.
On the palette, this presents as a full-throttle Napa cab. An explosion of flavors almost overwhelm the taste buds. Consistent notes on the palette, which are amplified by lifted sweetness. Tannins present perfectly, with a glossy mouthfeel. This wine has plenty of runway ahead of it. The best BV we have tasted.
Another brilliant example from @Martin G Rivard!!! — 8 years ago
I'm not sure if I've tagged the correct wine. Adjusting feedback much appreciated...
Nose is slightly muted. Offers up oak, rich blackcurrants and caramel. On the palette, the wine is voluptuous and dense. Mid palette displays a nice lithe mouthfeel, with fully integrated tannins, and extravagant fruit extraction. Finishes flamboyant with linze torte, nutmeg and brown sugar.
@Joe Lucca gifted me the cab a while back. I was excited to learn that they also do a merlot. Very impressive. — 8 years ago
Doug Powers
Very dark purple color, intense blue and black old vine fruit (140+ year old vines, apparently 75-85% Tinto Velasco, the rest Syrah), there is a subtle sweetness to the fruit here, not super-structured but with some very good acidity for balance, long finish, very fine!! — 6 months ago
