Frog's Leap

Shale and Stone Napa Valley Chardonnay 2020

Pale and lemon with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with yeasty and toasty oak aromas, sat on lees for 6 months. On the palate flavors of crisp apple and peach with citrus zest and nutty oak notes, well balanced with acidity. Medium+ finish ending with fruit, toasty oak and mineral character. Pair with a lane or red snapper with a tomato garlic compote topping. — 2 months ago

Two Hands

Lily's Garden McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017

Tasted twice! Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruit and herb pepper spice with floral and earthy notes, sat on French oak for 18 mos (10% new). On the palate cherry and blueberry flavors, citrus, tea, herb spice, oak and earthy notes. Fine tannins, vivid acidity, good balance, well structured on long finish ending with earthy mineral tones. A powerhouse that will continue to cellar well. Nice! — 4 years ago

Williams Selyem

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2002

Hints of oxidation in the coloring, but the nose and taste were fine. As it sat in the glass, it became more complex and enjoyable. — 3 years ago

Kosta Browne

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2018

After a very busy weekend, we sat around the table eating leftovers. Hard to see a Kosta Browne being a complement to “leftovers” but it was wonderful. Light red:purple color with strawberry and blueberry on the nose and some slight earth tones coming through the palate. This feels and tastes like a Russian River Valley Pinot but softer. Definitely worth having again. . . And again. — 4 years ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1989

It's Open That Bottle Night(last Sat in Feb), and thought this would be a nice pull to celebrate the occasion.

1 hour decant(decent sediment). A striking still dark garnet with some bricking. On the nose: perfumed stewed cherry/plum, smoked meat, worn leather, cigar ash, milk chocolate, rich soil, some band-aid(brett) Taste: smooth, polished, vibrant wine with plum, tobacco, bitter chocolate, worn leather, earth, and a long graphite coffee ground finish. YUM!!!!

Château Lanessan

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Poured through an aerator and sat for 15 minutes…

NOSE: strong, clear cassis. Meat. Pine, forest. Very mild chocolate and a little ash - and some raisin - but the cassis dominates.

Taste: medium weight, elegant, fruity bordeaux, with enough tannin to balance it perfectly - as on the nose, cassis and dark berry flavors dominate, but with a good herbal backbone. Simpler than I’d hoped, but just so very well made it doesn’t matter. Would love to taste this in a few years. 92.
