Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2002

Medium lemon yellow , persistent fine perlage . At first quite shy , needs a bit of time to get going . Then buttered pastry , confit lemon and roast nuts , quite bold and rich , just a hint of chalky minerality . On the palate the richer , deeper theme continues , those pastry and buttery notes , confit lemon and a creamy mouthfeel . Long balanced finish , the chalky acidity really helping to cut through richer , mouth filling profile . Coming back to this at the end of the meal , having sat 6 hours in the glass , this still shows remarkable freshness and life. This seems young to me still , certainly has everything for a long life ahead , better in 5 years perhaps and will show well a further 10-15 perhaps . — 2 months ago

Two Hands

Lily's Garden McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017

Tasted twice! Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruit and herb pepper spice with floral and earthy notes, sat on French oak for 18 mos (10% new). On the palate cherry and blueberry flavors, citrus, tea, herb spice, oak and earthy notes. Fine tannins, vivid acidity, good balance, well structured on long finish ending with earthy mineral tones. A powerhouse that will continue to cellar well. Nice! — 3 years ago

Clos des Papes

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2004

Very enjoyable CdP; loaded with raspberry, plum and other fruit with some earthy and meaty notes. Drinking great with a nice long finish. Decanted about 2 hours before we sat down to a Beef Burg dinner.

Closed off day 1. Sat on counter with Cory in for two days. Really nice. Now expressive on day 3. This needs time cellar. — a year ago

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2002

Hints of oxidation in the coloring, but the nose and taste were fine. As it sat in the glass, it became more complex and enjoyable. — 2 years ago

Kosta Browne

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2018

After a very busy weekend, we sat around the table eating leftovers. Hard to see a Kosta Browne being a complement to “leftovers” but it was wonderful. Light red:purple color with strawberry and blueberry on the nose and some slight earth tones coming through the palate. This feels and tastes like a Russian River Valley Pinot but softer. Definitely worth having again. . . And again. — 3 years ago

Château Lanessan

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Poured through an aerator and sat for 15 minutes…

NOSE: strong, clear cassis. Meat. Pine, forest. Very mild chocolate and a little ash - and some raisin - but the cassis dominates.

Taste: medium weight, elegant, fruity bordeaux, with enough tannin to balance it perfectly - as on the nose, cassis and dark berry flavors dominate, but with a good herbal backbone. Simpler than I’d hoped, but just so very well made it doesn’t matter. Would love to taste this in a few years. 92.
