Barringwood Park

Hardywood Park Craft Brewery

Speculoos Cookie Butter Beer

I don’t often beer it, and I’ve never actually logged a beer here, but this one called to me on St Paddy’s Day. It’s not Irish, but it is beer, and I still drank wine with dinner, but this delicious vanilla coconut chai spice of a refreshment was dessert! Like the perfect adult combination of root beer, cream soda and chai tea. — 25 days ago

Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

To receive the edge...
Light shadows in dark
Cast into center stage
Words scurry the lip

Stars align space to Park
Bottled purity in her Cage
Roaring truth Drips

Stung on edge
Beyond depths hold
Her mind waits

Thought brought to ledge
Feelings within fold
Tempering the dates

Denner Vineyards

Paso Robles Zinfandel 2019

Zin isn’t my favorite but leave it to denner to knock it out of the park! Blackberry compote and eucalyptus with a mild tannic structure! — 23 days ago

Realm Cellars

The Bard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2008

Late into our Zoom Happy Hour, we decided to open up The Bard. Since I only have older vintages of Realm (yeah, I know: poor me), I decided on the 2008. From the nose and palate I would have bet anything that this had a fair amount of cab franc in the blend, but it’s mainly cab sauvignon with about 15% petite verdot and a little malbec, I think. Anyway, this is holding up really well - and never lost a beat over several hours. I know their more recent vintages are knocking it out of the park in terms of scores, but if you have any bottles from their earlier years (first vintage of Realm was 2002), do yourself a favor and pull out one of these older bottles. They’re really good and will remind you that they were still making some pretty damn good juice before they got too cool for school. — 15 days ago
