Château Lynch-Bages

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Dark ruby center with lighter tawny rims. Not quite opaque. Nose is quiet at first and doesn't bloom until 3+ hours in a decanter. Notes of dark fruit, tobacco, leather saddle, barnyard ground, some stones and minerals, brush-like spice and some mocha. Seductive in the mouth. Great balance between very present fruit with good structure and softened tannins. Haven't had this in awhile, and this wine still is hitting it out of the park. At peak but it'll be around for the long haul. Started out second to the 94 Dominus and then took the race by a nose in the stretch. — 8 days ago

A crisp, lemon-y chardonnay. Less oak than Rombauer. I got notes of tobacco last time I drank this but I got less of that this time around. Well-balanced. Robert Park gives this 98 points. $69.95. — 6 months ago

Big aLICe Brewing Co.

Long Way Home

Got a nice natural quality. Light and subtle and cool that it comes from Keuka lake and treated in the manner, but falls a bit flat for me. The brewery itself, Big Alice Brewing, out in Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn is pretty awesome tho. Love havin a beer on the lawn right outside on a pretty day, a midday affair. This bottle is cool for its novelty, but wish for a bit more complexity. — 12 days ago

Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence Rosé Blend 2021

I like this wine. It’s the most similar to the rose wine I used to drink in Paris. Light, easy to drink. Perfect for summer time or for a picnic at Central Park — a month ago

Primitivo di Manduria 2019

Drank with Humbolt Co turkey sandwiches from Cherry St Kitchen on picnic at Blue Hole Park near Lake Hudson. Excellent rose and pairing. Wine was a gift from dad from Easton, MD. One of the best roses I’ve had. Best with food. — 2 years ago

Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie 2021

The all-reliable! Always fresh, crisp, and full of energy. The 2021 entry-level Pepiere was all that but with a little more fruit power than expected, which worked well with the rich cheese pairing (Brie and Brillat-Savarin). Love how it still hits it out of the park on the salinity front. — 8 days ago

Delectable Wine

The 2015 Taurasi Riserva Puro Sangue bursts from the glass with masses of crushed stone, ashen earth, citrus-tinged blackberries and animal musk. There are depths of silky textures nicely contrasted by vibrant acidity, as ripe plums, minerals, hints of tangerine and inner herbal tones resonate throughout. Its structure comes forward through the finale, yet there’s so much primary concentration and mouth-watering tension that it hardly slows the momentum, as notes of tobacco, cocoa and inner rose tones seem to last for nearly a minute. Luigi Tecce knocked it out of the park with the 2015 Puro Sangue. Readers are going to find it hard to wait long enough to watch these fully mature; but trust me, it will be worth waiting for.(Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2022)
