A sappy red fruited slightly savoury perfume…stewed fruits. Reminds me of those Western Australia Pinot characteristics. I used to buy Moss Wood Pinot where the fruit came from Pemberton if I recall correctly. This WA Pinot from Mount Barker, we bought at the winery a few years ago reminds me of the old Moss Wood Pinots. I don’t think this is a cellaring proposition but it is tasting great at 6 years old. On the 2nd night a whiff of honeycomb from the oak. — a year ago

A label new to me I bought at a Downs Club tasting. A little funk on the nose with almonds and under ripe stone fruit. Impressive if not a little light on the palate with the nose carrying through on to the palate. On the 2nd day this had filled out finishing with a saline minerality. Medium plus intensity and length. Proves once again that the Adelaide Hills is an exceptional area for Chardonnay - think Shaw and Smith M3 Chardonnay. — 2 years ago

Deep and rich - dark plum, rich spices - black pepper. Barb said red roses in the aromatics. On the medium to full bodied palate, savoury dried meats. This went well with stewed chicken legs - both savoury. Many would like a lighter red wine, even a full bodied white but this works well. The Mount Barker region produces excellent Shiraz and Riesling. The Block 9 Shiraz is a single site wine from dry grown wines planted in 1985. One of my favourite wine styles. — a month ago
