Grumello Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo 2004

Dark and brooding, smoky and masculine, yet with lightness and freshness. At 18 years of age this is in its perfect drinking window. A beautiful Nebbiolo that’s not from Barolo or Barbaresco. — 8 days ago

Ca' Fracia Valgella Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo 2002

This blew me away. Smells and tastes of camp fire/cigar smoke but complimented expertly by tart cherry and luscious tannin. — 2 years ago

Rosso Di Valtellina Chiavennasca 2004

BTG Compline, dusty, mushroom, dried flowers, dried herbs, nervy red fruit and racing acid. Love the tension this has given its extended elevage. — 3 years ago

Alpa Retiche Nebbiolo 2018

Really well balanced Nebbiolo. @ Lupo in Rehoboth Beach, DE (do better Delectable) — a month ago

Sassella Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo 2006

Classic rustic Italian. Earthy… bit of tobacco & dry cherry. Kind of a lingering umami. Just a hint of sweetness. As much as I love French and Napa juice, only Italy does this. — 10 months ago

"Il Fondatore" Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo 2002

Blend of 20% Riservas from Sasella, Grumello, Inferno and Valgela with 20% Sfursat.
Amazingly complex nose full of cherries, lilies, spices, leather, herbs, a whiff of mint. Very youthful and without any evolved aromas. Midweight on the palate with impeccable balance, juicy acidity, a still firm, dusty tannic grip and a finish that goes on and on. Wow! What a wine.
