Dark garnet purple. Inviting nose and medium full palate yield blackberry, black cranberry, and powdered blueberries with a hint of charred oak. Medium plus tannins that settle down quickly, and juicy, medium acidity shore it all up from entry to long, palate-continuing finish. Showing very well nine years on, this Walla Walla red is still an excellent classic bridge between New World fruit and Old World structure. Likely at or near its peak, though, so drink up with steaks or roots or other hearty fare. — 4 months ago

Delicious expression of the grape. Paired well with frenched rack of lamb that was, admittedly, not at all gamey, rather rare and only lightly garlic-pepper treated. — on Weds half price day at Cassava in SF’s Outer Richmond on Balboa St. Nice nose. Sweet up front, tart mid palate back to wild gooseberry on the soft finish. Tiny bits of licorice, vanilla, orange-clover honey. Clean. Fresh. Excellent mouthfeel. — 5 years ago

Blend of 2011, 2012, 2013. Fantastic with funky cheeses (manchego!) and grilled steak. Had this at a wine tasting of “bold and beautiful reds” on 2/23/18 with Becky and Jenn, and had to buy a bottle. The taste reminds me of the smell of the Museum of Man at Balboa Park. — 6 years ago
