Alta Langa Spumante Metodo Classico 2015

Very dry, zero dosage. This was very good and could certainly stand up to fine Champagne, but i think this needs more time in bottle to show its full potential. — 5 years ago

Conca d'Oro Nebbiola d'Alba 2013

2013 and so approachable, but doesn't feel like modern neb. Slight florals in the mix with fennel, old leather, hint of nuts, dark cherry and dried red fruits. Could give more points for value. — 10 years ago

Crottino Dolcetto d'Alba 2013

This is a great little #dolcetto. Pungent earth on the nose that blows off. Blue flowers, brambley boysenberry, dark cherry, chocolate deep into the nose.

Almost opaque in color. Very dark reds. Great density with solid color throughout to the outer rim.

The palate has fragrance again of blue flowers on the finish. The attack is a great balance of blueberries, integrated tannin and austerity. Tannin and acid play well together for a great texture. Opened 10/21/15 $12ish

Drank 12/30/19. Decent with a pork and red wine ragu.

Had this 2006 Magnum. Seemed like a nice opportunity to try the Coravin.

Nose initially showed notes of wild flowers and library book. The book notes blew off after around 30 min to show some red cherry. Flavors of red cherry and some spice notes. Medium tannins are well integrated at this stage. Medium finish. I dont see this improving at this stage, and may have already begun to decline in 750. I would drink now, but I will revisit via coravin in a few months.

Barolo Nebbiolo

Needed time to open in the decanter... Nice rose petals strawberry flavor with earthy undertones. Good QPR Barolo — 11 years ago

Barbaresco 2006

Medium bodied. Poured a dusty rose. Nose of raspberry tart. Dill and black tea. A little thin for my taste. Served from magnum. This one still has a little bit of tannic grip. Stiff young oak influence. It was ok, but was not a stunner compared to the other wines on the table. This one will undoubtedly improve over the next 10 years and probably still has 20 years in magnum. I definitely look for this one to start condensing down soon? — 8 years ago

Served en mag. Found this to be simple and basic. I know nothing of this producer so this could have been $20 or $200. Muddled raspberries, bay leaf, black tea notes. Young, but the oak wasn’t over powering. More of a tart finish.
