It is the 2006 vintage. So for me it lacks the depth I seek, but shows all the grace & style that is everything I love about Margaux wines.

While this misses in some areas, it nicely delivers in all the higher toned nuances of Margaux.

Lean, brambly, wild, blackberries, black raspberries, dry plum skin, well baked strawberries, dark cherries, dark chocolate baking bar, chocolate pudding, layered baking spices, dry tobacco w/ ash, well used leather, understated graphite, used charcoal, dry pebbles/soil, gentle dark spices, moist volcanic clays, dark withering flowers, dry red roses & bright violets, nice acidy and a good, even, well balanced finish that lasts almost a full minute.

This will drink steadily for 5-7 more yrs but not improve. — 10 days ago

An absolutely incredible single vineyard Brunello from a landmark vintage. Dark ruby color with a slight brick rim. Aromas of forest floor, bramble fruit, tar and dried herbs. Flavors of black cherry, tobacco, black licorice and coffee. Long and luxurious finish and just enough velvety tannin to enhance and lengthen the experience. Medium-plus body and perfectly balanced acidity. Powerful, yet beautifully well structured. Still incredibly vibrant. Sangiovese at its finest! This wine has a personality all its own. Nose of plum, underripe cherry, a lil cranberry, tobacco and crunchy red fruit burst out of the palate of this 13 year old wine. The color shows the age, bricking and pale brown/ruby color indicating some time in the bottle, but the nose and the palate tell no tales. Medium bodied, with crunchy red fruits and well integrated, grippy tannin, this has at least another 10 years before it starts to lose its legs. Great juice. — 9 months ago

Beautiful nose on this, remembering why I bought this while in the tasting room in Sta. Rita Hills (nice little spot in Los Olivos, highly recommend). Med+ intensity on the nose with bright cherry and strawberry. A bit of cedar/vanilla, but not much. Floral notes that almost turn to candy or runts. Nice on the palate too with a big pop of red fruit, med+ acidity and nice fine, integrated tannins. Long finish that sort of turns from sweet to tart cherry. Just a really nice wine. I scored a 93 but guessing this will improve and become a bit more elegant with a few more years. — a year ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2006 Bussia Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears and a good bit of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with heady notes of Morello cherry, an entire shop of red roses, tar, curaçao, truffle, talcum powder, cedar chest, dried green herbs and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. What a brilliant showing with so much life left. Drink now (but maybe decant off the sediment immediately before service) through 2046. — 3 months ago
