Clos Pepe Vineyard Chardonnay 2013

I love this oxidized white. It’s rare to drink chardonnay with this bottle age, and I like the notes of petrol that emerge. At $38, it’s a great value. — 9 months ago

Bien Nacido Vineyard Pinot Noir 1958

18 year old Pinot Noir from the master. Drank with Joe Davis at a great friend-holiday-pizza throwdown. Incredibly still structured, good acid, and still grippy. Can go many more years. — 6 years ago

Santa Ynez Valley Syrah 2008

Such a great syrah, and drinking very well right now. Could be confused for a cab with some bottle age, or even a slatier wine like brunello because of the dryness and secondary flavors — leather and tobacco. Tasty! — 3 years ago

Dierberg Vineyard Pinot Noir 2006

Very Burgundian style Cali Pinot, especially after a couples of hours. Rose petals, bright acidity and fruit with that earthy finish. Cheers. — 2 years ago

Domaine du Pegau

Cuvée Réserve Châteauneuf-du-Pape White Rhone Blend 2020

Rob N
9.5

One of the more interesting whites I’ve had in awhile. I love Domaine du Pegau but had never had a white Rhone blend. It included varietals I have never had before, like Clairette (60%) and Grenache blanc (20%). Despite the young age it had a depth and complexity of flavor like an older chardonnay — Arcadian ‘12 comes to mind. 10/10 would drink again. $70, Davidson’s. Only 4,000 bottles made according to Pegau’s website! — 3 years ago
