Deep purple/Inky in color with a short reddish rim.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, dark coffee, vanilla, chocolates, dried figs, spices and peppercorn.
Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruit forward on the palate with black currants, blackberries, cooked plums, figs, cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco,0 herbs, spices, light earth and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This beautiful 13 year old from Napa Valley is drinking wonderfully now. Rich and extracted. Nicely balanced and smooth. Fruit forward and complex.
Dark, bold and fresh tasting. Alcohol is nicely integrated at this point.
A great sipping wine that paired nicely with my lamb chops.

I bought this for the winter months and finished the last of it over the weekend. This is a blended malt named in honour of Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese Whisky. He was the first Japanese who mastered Whisky making in Scotland and brought this expertise back to Japan. It was an incredibly pure and rich Whisky with a certain smokiness. I don’t drink enough Whisky to know the difference but this could easily have been Scotch to my palate. 43% ABV. — 3 years ago
