Blend of Pinot Noir (66%), Chardonnay (35%) and Meunier (3%) Medium gold color. Aromas and flavors of citrus, apple cider, ripe pear, white flowers and freshly baked bread. Touch of oxidation. Large amount of soft mousse and consistent bubbles. Fruit forward and well structured. So light, crisp and refreshing. Cheers to Baby Amelia!!! — 2 years ago

Gonna put this in the super friendly category. It is a hug from someone you thought was only an acquaintance (but you quite enjoy) on an icky day. You think “not gonna be my bestie but I like you and you get me more than I thought you would”. And if this friend was flavored/textured: Hawaiian bread toasted. With a light, very light raspberry jam and an even lighter sprinkling of cinnamon. Pretty dang smooth. Not superb velvet but it is respectably sophisticated. — 8 years ago

Beautifully mature with the fruit shining bright backed by juicy tannins. So lovely. — 5 months ago

Crisp, light bodied, like a Sauvignon blanc. Fruity, a little acidic but not too much. Very unique. — a year ago

Plagiarised this a bit but perfect description Purple, almost black, and dense in colour, it is warm and inviting with typical Margaret River's terroir notes of eucalypt, Aussie bush, bay leaf, all sorts/licorice confection, spice and ripe black fruits. Plush and seamless. — 5 years ago

Banana cream pie aromas that extend to the glass when cool. As the wine warms from fridge temp, develops creme brulee notes others mentioned. Elements of citrus and tropical fruit in there as well. Outstanding, long finish as good as it smells. Critics rating this a 97 consistently. — 9 months ago
Really good food and non-food wine. Still bright after 6 years. Look for more of this. Recd by Amelia. — 2 years ago
A funny choice to put on the wine list for a Mediterranean restaurant, but very nice for what it is... On the nose this is first an foremost honeyed... A very soft raspberry... On the palate, the raspberry is front and center but concentrated... Like really concentrated... Like fruit roll up concentrated... It burns a bit... No candied elements... This is the real deal. I like it. — 4 years ago

We are celebrating my daughter's entering teenage years (tomorrow) and this Château Pape Clément 2012 is a year older than she is. I bought 2 bottles of it at a foire aux vins in 2014 back in Paris, have kept it since then, it went through a bunch of moves, including one from Paris to Warsaw and it came back in the trunk of our car this summer for the occasion. The carbon imprint of this (very heavy, on top of it) bottle is not great...
It was served along 2 massive beef tomahawk steaks cooked to medium-rare perfection by my dad.
Cassis, tar, tobacco, cedar, oak, a touch of red bell pepper which turned into menthol and black pepper as the wine warmed up in the glass (I had it chilled to 16°c and opened to shoulders).
The palate is full bodied, broad, layered, with cassis, black cherry, tar and oaky notes all along. It rolls on the tongue. The mouthfeel is soft and delicate but mutes into a grainy, gravely tannic wall that disrupts the finish and creates an additional layer of complexity. The finish is long, complex, evolving a tiny bitter note in the very end. The vintage is what it is and it can be felt in the way the wine is broad without being the broadest and in the mouthfeel which is a bit soft and lacking a tad of thickness. It's nevertheless a great wine which went super well with the steak. Happy Birthday Amelia! — 6 days ago
