Deep purple in color with a short purplish rim.
Full-bodied with medium acidity.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing blackberries, blueberries, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, oak, licorice, herbs, light vegetables and peppercorn.
Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 6-year-old Malbec from Mendoza is still young, and a little harsh. I had it before and this time I let it open for a whole day.
Tangy and rich. Very extracted and a little unbalanced.

Carmen — Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2022, D.O. Maipo Valley, Chile 🇨🇱
Overview
A simple, casual, easygoing Cabernet built for everyday drinking rather than contemplation. Lightly spicy with juicy red and black fruit, soft structure, and friendly tannins, more “Netflix couch wine” than cellar trophy.
Aromas & Flavors
Black currant, red cherry, plum, mild peppery spice, touch of cocoa and gentle oak.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied, smooth and approachable, modest tannins, easy finish with no hard edges.
Food Pairings
Burgers, weeknight pasta, roast chicken, tacos, pizza night, or honestly… takeout + sofa.
Verdict
Straightforward and pleasant. Lacks complexity or depth, but delivers exactly what it promises: a relaxed, no-thinking-required pour. Good value, low stress, easy company.
🍷 Did You Know?
Carmen is one of Chile’s historic wineries (founded 1850) and was instrumental in rediscovering Carménère as a distinct variety after it was long mistaken for Merlot.
Personal Pick
Not a study wine, a “second glass without noticing” wine. Perfect for unwinding when the day’s over and the brain is off duty. — 9 months ago
This was really nice even though it’s oaked — 3 years ago
Light and dry but funky, almost yeasty tannins mixed with berries. Distinct old vine Chilean varietals that I would like to see more of. — 5 years ago
Excellent cabernet, goût distinct corsé. Belle bouteille ! — 5 years ago
Nice mellow cab especially for the price. Would buy again. — 6 years ago

Clear, medium ruby in color with a garnet rim; on the nose it's clean with medium intensity primary and secondary aromas of green peppercorns, graphite, and black cherries; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, high tannins, full body, high alcohol, and pronounced intensity primary and secondary flavors of blackberries, dried figs, and black currants with a medium finish. This wine is complex and intense. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. It improves with time in the glass. — 9 months ago
Really like this. — 9 months ago
Light body, mineral accents, black pepper and spice, some tobacco without turning bitter, pairs nicely with roasted lamb for dinner and milk chocolate for dessert. — 4 years ago
Really nice wine
— 5 years ago
Delicious & not as heavy as expected which made it perfect for our Italian dinner at Prego’s! — 6 years ago

This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Chile.
Showing red and black fruits with oak, coffee and light earth notes.
This 6 year old Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the 5 to 7 years.

I had the 2021 vintage a year ago, and it was drinking much better. The 2020 was not as good of a vintage as the 2021.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and better with food.
A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Carmenere, 5% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 12 months in (10% new) French oak barrels.
15% alcohol by volume.
