Carmen
Gran Reserva Los Quillayes Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep ruby. Nose and medium-full palate of boysenberry, vanilla cassis, and dark rose. Fruit forward, but darker fruit and definitely not a “fruit bomb.” Medium minus acidity. Medium minus tannins. Classic Chilean style Cab with good fruit, but still enough earthy and herby characteristics to make for a nice all-around red. Great with grilled meats or hard cheeses. Drink now through 2027.

Jan 19th, 2021Good bouquet but little flavor and no finish. Supposedly rated as 97 points but I would say it’s even close.

Sep 27th, 2020I was amazed at the high quality of the cab sav. Wonderful balance of pure intense fruit, full body, depth, great varietal character, elegance and long finish. Fantastic value, one of the best cab savs I have ever had for under $30. 2017

Aug 27th, 2020Not sure how this has a lower rating. Ranked 97 points by Decanter World Wine Awards and I taste why. Very easy and enjoyable to drink. A little smokey at the end. Looking forward to finishing the bottle with other meals after chicken chef salad pairing tonight.

Aug 23rd, 2020Color of dull ruby with a touch of brown and purple gray. Nose of spice, dark berries and dark cherry, currants, cherry jam, coke, medicinal note, violet, a bit carbonates note, and a bit burning in the nasal cavity. Taste of ample acidity, vanilla, currants, savory spice, a bit peppery, a bit zest, refined yet solid tannins, and good alcohol strength. Aftertaste is medium with more sweetness and zest note. Pretty good.

Jun 27th, 2020A new addition to my Total Wine under $20 program. Certainly not a 97 pointer like Decanter gave it but good enough to add to the rotation.
