Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Best on Day 2. The 2021 “Etna Rosso” pours a bright ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful with bright cherries and raspberries, carnations and rocky minerals. On the palate, medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a very pretty wine that wins you over with its charm and it’s versatile on the dinner table as well. Great QPR. Drink now with a little patience and through 2031. — a month ago
Poured into a decanter about two hours prior to dinner. There was some decent sediment so I left the last ounce or so in the bottle. In the glass, the 2018 pours a deep ruby with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, this is absolutely gorgeous with heady notes of fresh ripe blackberries, black cherries, pomegranate molasses, tobacco, black pepper, some dry earth and beautiful integrated baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Beautifully balanced. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and has a satisfying melange of fruit and spice. This is fabulous with some air right now but I expect it will age beautifully through 2038. — a month ago
Pale straw with a particularly vivacious nose. You’re greeted with aromas of umami and wet stones. There’s plenty of floral notes here, along with green apples and a faint touch of vanilla.
Clean, precise, and linear. This is a delicious Chenin Blanc. The key here is the acid that runs throughout. Sharp and contemplative while remaining generous. The palate is fresh and direct with citrus and minerality. Outstanding. — 3 months ago
