Trinchero Napa Valley

Central Park West Vineyard Petit Verdot 2008

Dark and inky out of the bottle. A little funk on the nose, so it might need more air, but it reminds me of the smell of all the great Napa caves we have visited! I don't drink, own, or ever see that many petit verdots but this one isn't bad. Nice cherry fruit, with a nice subtleness on the palate, and just a hint of spice on the finish. Quite lovely and a nice change from white wine Sunday's....moving it up 2pts as the additional air did wonders and it paired beautifully with lemon, pepper pork tenderloin, white rice, and collard greens with garlic! — 10 years ago

Château Bel Air

La Rosée Pauillac Rosé 2008

A delight to pull this out of Sunday's picnic basket. Cashmere smooth. An instant hit. It's a negotiant's Pauillac & made to please in a fruit-rich modern style. While not immense in its complexity, it is a Pauillac & what it does, it does very well. A joyful bouquet...basking in ripe fruit--cherries, plums, raspberries...each taking their turn. Savors of dark cherry & plum with a pleasant, mild peppery finish. I could sip this all day. So perfect for a relaxed afternoon picnic...perhaps even too good. :) — 11 years ago

Marc Delienne

Abbaye Road Fleurie Gamay 2015

Ok ok. This was good. If anything, this shows the variability in Marc's wines. Or maybe I was just too impatient the first time round. Anyway, I opened this begrudgingly on Friday after the horrendous bottle of the same wine the day before. Honestly, I just wanted reparation. Definitely didn't find it right away though, with the animale character overpowering all else again. So I corked it back and chucked it straight into the fridge for Sunday's Christmas party.

Come Sunday - boom! Concentrated blackberries and raspberries, which are candied almost (probably imparted by some carbonic maceration), dried florals, spice, grilled meat, and still a whiff of barnyard funk and volatile acidity. Rhone-like volume and structure. Nice acidity to counter-balance the dense, sweet fruit. Compared to the other two Delienne wines opened after, this had the ripest impression. A wine of the vintage for me, but does retain good energy and "drinkability".

Eola - Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2019

This is Sunday's Child. Opened 12/19/20 with MEL with the Monday and Tuesday Siblings. As previously CVed 3 weeks ago had good structure and dark berries with notes of earth and a bit of funk that's beguiling. Was more of a muscle man compared to Strings. But on 12/21 from Eto it was just delicious and waves of complex notes came forth. Excellent for aging — 6 years ago

2009 is such a great Bojo vintage & this is representing it perfectly. Sunday nights in the summer are often whatever we haul in from the Farmer's Market, fresh pasta & roast chicken or salmon. This is kicking off our "Summer Sunday's"- seems a solid choice. — 11 years ago
