Georgia Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2012

9.6

This is a wine I’ve only had young. It has far more backbone when it’s young. After 8-9 years in bottle, it more like white burgundy with grassy notes of Sauvignon Blanc.

This is a wine I could write a novel of notes regarding.

The nose shows characteristics of; White Burgundy, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier & Sancerre. Cut grass, herbaceous notes, tropicals, stone fruits, guava, passion fruit, lichee, subtle mint, waxy candle, honeycomb notes, cream, vanillin/vanilla, gentle white spice, limestone mineral & chalkiness spearmint, camomile, spring flowers, jasmine & fields of greens.

The mouthfeel is gorgeous, voluptuous & sexy, waxy, round with beautiful viscosity. Cut grass, herbaceous notes, mix of tropical melons , stone fruits-white peach dominate, guava, passion fruit, lichee, subtle mint, waxy candle, honeycomb, marmalade, cream, vanillin/vanilla, gentle white spice, limestone mineral & chalkiness, fine & delicate crushed, limestone & sandstone minerals, burgundy volcanics, understated spearmint, shades of garden fresh green beans, hints caramelized brown sugar, melted caramel, saline quality, river stone, camomile, spring flowers, jasmine & fields of greens. Acidity is like a warm summer rain. One of the best, long, rounded, lush, ruby, extremely well knitted structure & balance finishes I’ve had & persists for minutes.

My favorite Sauvignon Blanc to date. A great climate, soil structure, terroir for Sauvignon Blanc in the right Winemakers hands.

Gorgeous wine & a steal at $69. I believe $150 a bottle & a three bottle minimum off their list. The 2012 vintage released at $120.

What a pair with the garden fresh cherries tomatoes, basil, salt, pepper, half of squeezed lemon in olive oil.

Pinot Taché On Lees Pinot Noir Rosé 2017

Definitely serious rosé. Almost stern, like it’s looking down its nose at us for expecting anything as frivolous as a crisp and lively Provençal rosé. It has weight and textures and is almost a bit much as an aperitif, but all makes sense when the food arrives. It paired well with baked salmon and could probably take on more serious dishes — I can see it working well with charcuterie on a spring afternoon. Good concentration and length. Interesting wine. — a month ago

The Whip Livermore Valley White Blend 2017

Fascinating #livermorevalley white blend with a pronounced onion + floral nose, full bodied, citrus, peach palate with plenty of lip-smacking acidity. That nose might be a unique feature of this 2017 vintage; it might scare off some people but I imagine it would be delicious with a Chinese spring onion omelette. — a month ago

The nose reveals; golden raisins, green & golden apple, candied, sour lemons, lemon meringue, dry apricots, yellow peach, lime candy, cream, vanillin, warm caramel, candle wax, honeycomb, melted white butter, shade of herbaceousness, chalk, saline with white spring flowers, greens & withering yellow florals.

Big, beautiful, rich mouthfeel with excellent viscosity. Beautiful & well polished. Golden raisins, green & golden apple, candied, sour lemons, lemon meringue, dry apricots, yellow peach, lime candy, cream, vanillin, warm caramel, candle wax, honeycomb, melted white butter, shade of herbaceousness, chalk, saline with white spring flowers, greens & withering yellow florals. Cool shower acidity. The balance is excellent as is the consistent, persistent finish. You get some white spice with understated heat with great alluvial limestone minerality on the long set.

Another blast from the past! Aged well, not fantastic, but still, not too bad for the road it’s been on. — 2 months ago

Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

9.3

Ruinart last night, Billecart tonight. Gotta start the night with a 375ml of Rosé Champagne.

The nose shows; dreamsicle ice cream bar, blood orange, tangerine, very ripe yellow stone fruits, pink grapefruit w/ a touch of sugar, hints of baked rhubarb, notes of black cherries, lean watermelon & not ripened strawberry reduction. White spice, sea spray & fossils, grey volcanics, darker shade of chalkiness, limestone minerals, bread dough, baguette crust, cream, spring flowers, pink roses w/ orange blooms/lilies.

The palate has nicely polished mouthfeel, rich and very good ripeness. A little more mineral and sharp chalkiness than other bottles I’ve had. Great micro-oxygenation. Dreamsicle ice cream bar, blood orange, tangerine, very ripe yellow stone fruits, pink grapefruit w/ a touch of sugar, notes of black cherries, lean watermelon, cooked rhubarb juice, & not ripened strawberry reduction. White spice w/ typical heat, faint white pepper popping up here & there, sea spray & fossils, grey volcanics, darker shade of chalkiness, limestone minerals, bread dough, baguette crust, cream, spring flowers, pink roses w/ orange blooms/lilies. The acidity is fantastic as always. The long, rich, lush finish is a touch gluey , well balanced & knitted, polished and persists endlessly with a long set of spice. Always consistent & delicious.

Fro Zin Russian River Valley Zinfandel 2016

I don’t usually order dessert wines, but it’s been an incredibly long day, and I’m still working late into the night. So, yes I did treat myself to this sweet, sweet delight. #WorkingDinner Ribbon candy, berry rich (loved this part), and luscious grapes! A fruitful #SWEETZinfandel that just keeps on giving as you let sit on your palette. It’s like smelling a bouquet of flowers! Or a beautiful taste of Spring! I am most definitely buying this for me at home as well. Officially! My new favorite dessert wine! I did start off with an Argentinian cab tonight, but as you can see this delight stole the night 🌚 Enjoy ✨ — 6 days ago

The mouthfeel is rich, lively with excellent mousse. Quite beautiful. Bruised; red & golden apple, Bosc pear, overripe stone fruit & pineapple, lemon meringue, touch cider, nougat, almonds, cream to cream soda & ginger ale, hints of melted white butter, melted golden brown sugar, vanillin, sea fossil, crumbled, grey volcanics, chalky power, bread dough to yeast, hints of coconut with shell, white spice with just the right amount of heat, limestone, understated limestone minerals, spring flowers, jasmine & withering white lilies. The acidity is excellent. The finish is; well balanced & polished, elegant & simply near perfect finish. She is excellent wire to wire.

This is for you if you enjoy a Champagne that leans more oxidative.
