Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2015

Popped and consumed from decanter over two hours.

Shocked at how dark this was in the glass. Pretty close to a tinge of purple. If poured blind, I feel like it would be tough for most to call this what it is. Fairly “big” in style, like big and ripe Oregon style. Dark fruits abound aromatically as well as damp earth/forest, and lots of floral notes too. It channels a mix of red, blue and black fruit on the palate, with a good vein of acidity. Mineral, and a small bit of iron. Don’t really know how this ages in regards to evolution, but this can appeal to New World Pinot fans at the moment due to the concentration of the fruit.

I’m glad I got this for $50 4-5yrs ago, but the price now is crazy.

I saw what you mean regarding the pricing. This rate of increase can’t continue…

Despite being made in an oxidative style, this was tight as a drum with razor cut. Serious wine that did well after a short decant. — 6 months ago

Les Vignots Pommard Pinot Noir 2015

Drinking the tail end of another dinner here. Losing a bit of vigour after two days opened, but still showing heaps of textural richness and chewy energetic fruit. Plums, cranberries, spice, and earthy nuances. Impressively long finish. Wow! Sadly, the bouquet was the let down, whereby the expectedly floral notes have disappeared at this stage and a light musk has started developing. Nevertheless, I can’t discount that this was an excellent aperitif. — 7 months ago

F me. Wow. One of, if not **the** greatest bottles of Burgundy I have ever tasted. If I could capture what got me into Burgundy, this would be it, turned up. Sheer perfection. — 5 months ago

Difficult to justify Leroy pricing but then you have this and I guess it all becomes apparent. 👍

@Bob McDonald I think the pricing now is not justifiable. One could write an essay on the ethics/morality/etc. of paying what this goes for now for a bottle. Let's just say there were some (very) generous folks who bought this a long time ago and I was just lucky enough to be hanging around. This rating is based on **not** having paid for the admiring a work of art. I wonder if I would feel differently if I could have afforded it and poured it...
