14’ d'Yquem "Y" 75% SB 25% Semillon.
Let this warm up & open up in the glass for a good 30+ minutes. Medium gold color. Yellow/green apple, apricot, white peach, pear, hint of honey. wrapped in light/medium acidity. Everything plays together beautifully. Wonderfully made wine.
Want to thank Ronnie for not just picking up this wine and throwing it into his wine cellar for the last year +. Just being an all-around great guy. Thanks again for everything. @Ron R . Wanted to give this a proper post from last nights dinner. — 2 months ago
Similar to the 2017, I expected this to be a big butter bomb (knowing the general Plumpjack style) but it was quite steely initially, before opening up and showing a touch more roundness from the scant use of oak. Believe this is aged 70-80% stainless. On both the nose and palate, I picked up banana bread, melon and cantaloupe, with roasted lemon and honeyed pineapple toward the finish. It goes back and forth between coming across as a super viscous SB, and a lighter/mineral Napa Chardonnay (though not as flabby as some Napa chards can be).
I found this to be a step up from the 2017, and is definitely best enjoyed right above cellar temp. My thanks to my friend @Ron R for his generosity in sending this after hearing of my less than stellar experience with their 2017. — 20 days ago
Interesting Southern Oregon Tempranillo. Dark and bold color. Deep red and black fruit aromas and flavors. Hint of oak, vanilla and spices on the long and silky finish. Bright, Bold and expressive. Excellent New World style Tempranillo. Thank You Ron B! — 24 days ago
Birthday red for the birthday girl 🍷 all made possible by the people’s champ, @Ron R 🙌🏻 thanks for sending this our way, sir - it’s some seriously delicious juice. I gave it one smell and thought to myself, “This is a 94/100 wine.” Glad to see my initial (and final) assessment was on par with most of yours.
Intoxicating notes of mulled plums, blackberries and blueberries, all baked together with anise, melted Mexican chocolate, and dried vanilla bean. Beautiful, luscious mouthfeel with a velvety finish. This is a winner. — 2 months ago
Traditional Rioja Style Tempranillo. Ruby red color with an orange rim. Ripe red fruit aromas and flavors with notes of rose petals, spices and vanilla. Long finish. Elegant. Thank You Ron B! — 24 days ago
Dark tawny brown in colour. Strong molasses/cane earthy smoky aromas. A brilliant palate of Caramel, molasses - a fluid mellifluous palate, so smooth it doesn’t show its 47.5% ABV. Aged in Double charred Oak Barrels. A marvellous Rum from Guatemala - love the raffia basket weave around the base of the bottle - great presentation. — 3 months ago
