Côte Blonde Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2013

Developing a real penchant for Cote Rotie! This one had all the right characteristics; rich, spicy yet smooth and a long finish. No complaints here…. — 3 months ago

Puech Noble Coteaux du Languedoc Syrah Blend 2017

Beautiful northern Rhône style in Languedoc. Deep purple hues with powerful game / meat scents and iron. Herbaceous, dried thyme, pepper, some ripened raspberry too. Medium body, strong tannins, medium acids.

Made out of site named “Puech Noble.” Located on a small plateau, the ground is covered with ‘galets roulés’ - rounded stones - Very similar to those found in the parts of nearby Chateauneuf-du-Pape. At 150m higher than most of Chateauneuf, so is significantly cooler and offers a fresher character.

La Landonne Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2019

2019 vintage. Decanted. Biggy and banging. Obvs too soon but still phenomenal. Toasted/roasted nuts and so much smoky/meaty action. Medium-heavy/heavy bod. Excellent focus and don't say no juice. 8.19.23. — 4 months ago

Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2019

Intense aromas of bright red strawberry and dark chocolate. Strawberry flavors also fill the pallet. Hints of mushroom and minerals. Medium bodied. Nice dark garnet color. Silky tannins and a very long finish. Bright and fresh. — a year ago

Clos Mogador

Priorat Red Blend 2016

A dense bright ruby in colour. Initially vanilla/oak notes which blew off with time in decanter. Dense rich and brooding - not giving much aromatically. Tight and muscular. Behaves younger than 7 years. Made by the redoubtable Rene Barbier, one of the founders of the revitalised Priorat movement as shown in the excellent documentary “Dreaming of Wine”. Full bodied and flavoursome. Rich and herbal - predominantly ripe Garnacha grapes. Red and black fruits. Had a wonderful visit there last year with the family and an informative tour and tasting at Clos Mogador. I love the fact that they have kept their wines affordable unlike their Priorat colleagues Alvaro Palacios (L’Ermita) and Daphne Glorian (Clos Erasmus) whose wines are quite expensive. This Mogador is so not ready to drink! Needs time in the cellar. Disagree with Thomas Matthews Drinking window of 2019 to 2024. Personally I think this wine will cruise through to 2030. I will leave the last one for around another 4 years. — 4 months ago

Thanks Andrew. I’m a fan of the Priorat district and their wines. The whites from Clos Mogador (Nelin) are also fabulous. Not that far from Barcelona.
