Deep purple in color; plum, baking spices, and black cherries on the nose; medium minus acidity; medium minus tannins; tastes like blackberries, plums, and maybe blueberries with a long finish. Probably a crowd pleasing wine. Easy drinking. — 2 months ago

McCarthy & Schiering, $18
Cloudy in the glass and nose of slight smokey oak and juicy berries. Super soft tannins on the palate, nice acidity, bright juicy mouth watering berries, oak is super well integrated and barely noticable. A little bit of anise sweetness and spice. Of all the Portuguese wines I've had this one reminds me the most of port. Absolutely loved it! — 4 months ago

Had this at chef Avillez’s Bairro in Lisbon’s Chiado neighborhood. First time trying a Dao DOC wine, and it was splendid. Medium bodied, dark fruit and peppery. A nice contrast to the lighter vino verde’s I’ve had a lot of in Portugal. A bottle of this in front of me would be dangerous. — 5 days ago
