Harris Knowles Vineyard Syrah 2019

Light to med/light limpid purple... actually looks more like Pinot or Gamay in the glass. Light aromas of raspberry, tart cherry, slight metallic, and forest- floor. I like the weight, the lifted savory dryness, the lightness of the wine as it glides over the palate. Not a hint of sweet, of Jam, or over-ripeness. It caresses food, but might otherwise commit the unpardonable sin of falling into “good” rather than something more grandiose... but tonight, with good pizza and watching Biden’s speech... “good” is more than acceptable. — 3 months ago

Harris-Kratka Zinfandel

Beautiful color. Smooth finnish. Hints of black cherry and plum. Tannins and acids are well balanced. Lacks the spice/pepper you except in a nice zinfandel. — 4 months ago

Harris Kratka Vineyard Zinfandel 2005

A rich but now well balanced Zin in that ripe style that I’d likely not have been too fond of when it was younger. Bottle coated with sediment and oak is prominent in how it’s resolved with plummy berry vanilla notes. Back label says a field blend of Zin Carignane and Petit Sirah, Alexander Valley vineyard, vines cultivated on St. George rootstock grafted onto a 75 year old clone of Zin. — 3 months ago

Vasse Felix

Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Brought this to Bellwether to match with the 2009 Bellwether Cabernet Sauvignon. A pretty even match - both top quality. Shared with Penfolds Viticulture senior executive Ben Harris and Sue Bell both excellent palates. This is more herbaceous and hay silage than the Coonawarra. — 4 months ago
