Tullum Pecorino 2019

This Abruzzo white wine is tinted yellow. It smells of citrus, mostly - Meyer lemon, lime and tangerine. There is also an earthy aroma like that of apricots. The apricot note is more noticeable on the palate, with all that citrus coming along for the ride. The acidity is quite fresh, very refreshing. The finish is medium and carries apricot and salinity, along with the Meyer lemon. — 20 days ago

Podere Pradarolo

Vej Bianco Antico Malvasia di Candia 2018

This is a tough one for me. Not for the faint of heart of unadventurous. Took me a few days to get through the bottle, not because it is a bad wine but because it is so intense it takes a while to make it through your glass. Apricot, extreme tannins, citrus, and VA. I don’t hate it, but if I ever buy again I’ll be splitting the bottle between 3-4 other people. — 5 days ago

Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Everything one could ever want from CCR! Rich, deep. Very long. Complex. Cherry, damp earth. Nice bite just in front of the finish. Layers. Glad I have 2 more left. — 18 days ago

Fattoria Poggio di Sotto

Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 1999

One of my favorite producers next to soldera with an excellent vintage that is still young & fresh showing red cherry, cedar, leather, licorice, tobacco & floral notes. — a day ago

Poggio Valente Morellino di Scansano 1998

Simple pizza dinner with David June 9 BD. Interesting Tuscan Sangiovase not from Chianti but further south Morellino Scansano and has more weight and dimension. Nose particularly compelling with mix of cherries berries and forest notes. Silky palate and good finish. AA18. — 12 days ago

Poggio San Polo

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

Good but certainly not great Brunello. The elements are all there but it just misses the mark with a thin mid-palate. Finished nicely with lots of black tea notes and tannins. Wish it had a bit more fruit to balance out the tannins. — 5 days ago

Poggio Le Volpi

Edizione Limitata Roma Red Blend 2016

This is an extremely dark wine, inky black, and it smells of black plums, blackberries and black cherries. The palate shows a terrific display of said fruit with a savory blanket of spice and licorice thrown over it. The tannins are a bit tame, but that fault does make for an extremely sippable wine. It will pair nicely with pork or tomato-based dishes. — 14 days ago
