This is one of those show stopper wines. Everything about it, the bottle, the color in the decanter, the color in the glass, the smell, the flavors on the palate…nothing out of place. Dried fruit, Oolong tea, ocean spray giving way to a long, gorgeous, generous finish. Almost tannic? This paired beautifully with a bowl of cherry tomatoes that we sautéed in some butter and garlic. Nose has this Nebbiolo brick thing. Hint of cherry flower. Some library dust. Some roses.

Palate is dusty cherry. Rose internal aromatics. Some nice loveliness.

A very nice study in Nebbiolo.

I’d drink this now.

Ah fuck. Maybe mildly corked an hour in. It felt a little off. Sonafabitch it’s corked. God hates us all.

Cannubi Barolo Nebbiolo 2012

Nose of cinnamon candy, animal, star anise, roses. Palate is powerful and structured, spices and dark fruits to go with the strong tannins that are slightly dry and rustic. Much better on day two. 88-89

Nez épicé de bonbons à la cannelle, anis étoilée, roses. Le vin est puissant avec aussi un délicieux fruits noirs et ces épices mais avec une belle finale sur des tannins puissants mais un brin rustique. 88-89
