Domaine Serene

Evenstad Reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2017

The story of Domaine Serene harks back to Minnesota, where Grace met the late Ken Evenstad, and the couple’s partnership in life and business first began. πŸ’•@domaineserene

With a faith in the terroir of Willamette Valley, Oregon, this pioneering couple purchased land in the Dundee Hills AVA, establishing Domaine Serene in 1989, crafting their first vintage in 1990.πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡

Since then, Domaine Serene has grown, expanded, and rightfully garnered critical acclaim for producing some of the finest expressions of Pinot Noir from this region. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Due to their thoughtful dry-farming and sustainable practices in the vineyard, meticulous micro-cru vinification processes, pursuit of blending, judicious use of oak, and aging prior to release, a consumer may come to expect a unique, consistent experience with a glass of this beautiful wine.🍷 In our experience, it never disappoints as a special wine to be shared during the holidays or celebratory moments. πŸŽ‰

Here is the Domaine Serene, Evenstad Reserve, Willamette Valley, Vintage 2017, ABV 14.4%. It has a strong structure, and balance, backed by high acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, and vibrant fruit aromas such as cherry, kirsch, and blackberry. It also offers complexity in aromas and flavors with not only red / black fruit, but also violet, licorice, clove, vanilla, cola, saddle leather, nutmeg, and forest floor notes. The finish lingers.πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

In 2015, the Evenstads made their dream a reality by purchasing ChΓ’teau de la CrΓ©e in Santenay, Burgundy, France, an estate that dates back to the 15th Century. πŸ‡«πŸ‡· Their story is inspiring and their wines are delicious. We hope to someday visit their estates in Willamette and Santenay.

Until then we will continue to enjoy their wines and remember their story, pioneering spirit, partnership, and pursuit of excellence in their craft. Cheers! ✨✨✨

Colene Clemens Vineyards

Victoria Pinot Noir 2017

Victoria named after Colene Clemens daughter, medium Ruby with aromas dark red fruits and floral spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry, blackberry and plum with cedar, black pepper and vanilla spice. Pronounced soft fine tannins, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit, herb and sweet spice. Nice! β€” 7 days ago

Estate Grown Pinot Noir 2017

Enjoyable but way too young. It evolved a lot over a few hours starting off with dried red fruit and leather then into plush ripe fruit, earth, and mushrooms. Tannic with m+ acid and a long finish. Rating more on potential here than where it was when we drank it. Looking forward to trying this again further down the road. Lots of character. β€” 11 days ago

Two Messengers Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Pop and pour. The density this has shown has just increased in the last few years. On the nose: spicy red fruit, a hint of savory licorice, lovely intensity. On the palate: lovely acidity and density. Fills the mouth with lovely red fruit, earthy spice and a touch of herbs. Attenuated tannin on the finish. Yum. β€” 12 days ago

Lemonade Pinot Noir RosΓ© 2020

Nose has ripe cherry, ruby red grapefruit and orange zest.

Palate has fresh cherry, tangerine with some sandy minerality, decent finish, drinking way too easy...

Cool story behind this wine, look it up, essentially being dealt a questionable hand in 2020 (wildfire smoke) the ladies got creative when life gave them lemons, so to speak.

Mack & Schuhle Inc.

United Ink Oregon Pinot Noir 2019

This Pinot has a medium ruby tint and carries aromas of raspberry, minerals, cola, black tea, clove and a touch of cinnamon. The palate is equally complex, with fruit that wavers between sweet and tart, a savory earthiness and an acidity that refreshes. The tannins were forceful at first, but they calmed themselves after a bit of air. It may be a tad too rowdy to be called elegant, but it is a close call - and a tasty one. β€” 18 days ago

Willamette Valley Pinot Gris 2019

πŸ‘€ Clear in color with a tinge of yellow green.
πŸ‘ƒ Aromas of honey, stoned fruits, very flowery
almost sweet.
πŸ‘… Tastes of white flowers (mild) honey
Peaches and honeydew.

I have occasionally enjoyed their Sauvignon Blanc, vintages can really vary. Decided to give this a try..not great not terrible! Actually an enjoyable change!
Reminiscent of an Alsace Pinot Gris the more it opens & best with a chill!

Ken Wright Cellars

Canary Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

Color of purple with ruby hue. Quite clear and nice legs. Nose of dark fruits, dried strawberry, aldehyde, oily and crayon, a bit smoky, and fragrance is refined. Taste follows the nose with addition of grapefruit sweetness, strawberry vanilla, zest, mineral, minty, simply quite tasty. Second sip shows some more zest and peppery. Good flavors. Aftertaste shows some more ripe grape and a bit too much bitterness. But still a good one. β€” 10 days ago
