@Delectable Wine this is the one star. * thanks!
There’s something about middle Mosel Pinot I find thrilling. Nose has herbs, light red cherries and sour cherries and commandingly soars from the glass. Hint is spicey wood that is so appealing and if course this is on top of huge amounts of aromatic slate. This has unreal levels of just gorgeous minerality. Palate has oceans of sweet fruit and lovely soft impression with an intriguing mineral and salty finish. Sour and mid season cherries galore. Beautiful velvety tannins that are wonderfully sweet but also a bit big and drying but I think air will resolve that. Very juicy and pure with a hint of slightly green/sour element on the finish that keeps this from 9.3. Let’s see what air does. Air has made this decline slightly to a 9.1. — 13 days ago
Don't let the screw cap sell you short. This looks entry but beats most Gutswein.
Pours a glow of creamy pearls and chartreuse. The aromatics are light. Apples and pears.
Most of the magic happens in the mouth, where a soft spherical texture like simple syrup delivers on sweet orange bitters and celery soda.
Even clocks in with a punchy 13% so as to say hey, let me play with the big kids. — 12 days ago
Lime zest, grapefruit, slate. Electric energy as usual — 6 days ago
Very nice Riesling from the reliably delicious and interesting Peter Lauer. But honestly slightly disappointing relative to what I was hoping for. Doesn’t quite have the acid-driven precision and clarity as some of the other bottlings I’ve had from him. Still nice, obviously. — a month ago
So clean and balanced. Not a complex wine, but just a perfect balance of only a mild sweetness followed by minerality and mild acidity. A Golden Mean in all its flavors. White fruit flavors. A paradigm of Mosel Riesling. Extraordinary QPR. — 9 days ago
Amazing wine. Fruity and long on palate. Really concentrated wine. I liked it a lot. VDP große lage 2020 — 19 days ago
Sweet but enjoyable Riesling with nice minerality and a strong and lengthy acidic finish. — a month ago
Look at my previous note. Add age. That’s why this is a 9.9. Just the best 19 Auslese I’ve ever had. Masterful. Nervy tropical fruit. Elegant like nothing else. Loooooooong. Why is this not more well known? I did a poor job I guess. Also there is like none. — 9 days ago

-Rugged Riesling-
DAY 1
Served with the Vinloq System
👀Dark yellow golden honey. Unfiltered
👃Sour citrus, wax, savory herbs with tea & mint
👅Honeyed, candied stone fruit. Ripe apples. Very herbal with pronounced acidity. Salty. The finish is dry, long, & delicious
So interesting. So expressive. Superb clarity. Singular flavor profile likely due to botrytis and long elevage. Just…wow
The remaining wine was Slow Decanted with Vinloq & refrigeration
Sampled this on 2 more occasions
DAY 15
👃Bold, distinctive & precise
👅Probably would not guess riesling in a blind tasting. Tea, cognac & sherry all make appearances. Bruised/ripe apple is only perceived sweetness
Virtually unchanged in 15 days. Feels very sturdy. Probably would be an interesting wine to cellar.
Jakob Tennstedt is a new winemaker in the Mosel. He biodynamically farms 50-100 year old vines he restored on steep blue slate terraces. This wine was so laborius to make that he will not do it again. I am glad I was able to try it this time and it gives me motivation to try his other wines🥂
