Monier de La Sizeranne Hermitage Syrah

History of Chapoutier family dates back to the early 19th century when current owner Michel Chapoutier’s great-, great-, great-grandfather Marius purchased estate & famous l’Hermitage vineyards. Medium Ruby with aromas of rich red/black fruits and spice. On the palate raspberry, cherry & black currant flavors with notes of oak. Firm tannins, well balanced ending with fruit, spice and cedar. Very nice! Tasting Sample. Has lots of room to bottle evolve. — 14 days ago

Le Méal Ermitage Blanc Marsanne 2009

A wonderful wine especially after the disappointment of the 2007 opened before this one. Slight tinge of golden yellow. Spicy and savory with excellent length. — 2 days ago

La Moynerie Pouilly-Fumé Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Vintage 2018 | Pale colour. Expressive smell with a violet impression, hint of citrus, nice acidity and roundness in taste. Stays upright with bouillabaisse with croutons and rouille. — 16 days ago

Le Méal Blanc Hermitage Marsanne 2013

Not feeling the love tonight. I have had this vintage before and it has been magical. Love this wine. Usually a very complex oily joy. But tonight’s has been a bit harsh. Don’t think it’s spoiled but it’s definitely off. So let’s see how it does tomorrow. Some strong flinty elements but not much of the usual peach and apricot. Crossing fingers for better news on part 2 — 2 days ago

Les Pentes Saumur Chenin Blanc 2015

Lyle Fass

Been 2 years+ since I’ve had this. Nose is gorgeous now. Nose is honeyed almonds and steel wool. Nuttiness as well. Sense of richness but also super umami notes. Chenin is a major umami grape. Confectionary honeycomb on the nose. So gorgeous and such clarity. Really a knockout nose. Palate is clear, vivid and has terrific, knock you on your ass acids. Tangy and also really leaves an imprint on the palate. Fantastic purity and presence. Really really long. Brown sugar on the nose now. A sick sick wine. Maybe best chenin I’ve had from Michel Chèvre. — 3 days ago

Ready to drink now on an excellent vintage. Delicate wine with civilized tannins and a flowery style. Fantastic QPR because it tastes well above its league. — a month ago

l'Ermite Ermitage Syrah 1998

Magnum 1998 Chapoutier L’Ermite Ermitage. Opened and drank immediately. Beautiful nose and front end, but the finish of the wine has started to diminish. Not an abrupt finish, but not any real length to it. Very light. Good lunch wine, we decided. — 16 days ago

2019 vintage. 100% Altesse from the Monthoux cru. Lovely peach fruit and mineral impressions. Round, juicy and fresh. Good almondy length too. A very nice example of Roussette de Savoie. — 5 days ago
