Dependably enjoyable #grandcruchampagne 2012: yeasty nose, laid back citrus and some wet stone aromas. Still vigorous fine bubbles on the palate, nicely balanced but definitely tending towards very dry. Paired marvelously with a lentil soup starter and Cacio e Pepe rigatoni with sautéed shrimp dining al fresco (BYOB with reasonable corkage fee FTW!) on a relatively pleasant early summer evening in Houston. While a very nice bottle of bubbly, I must admit I was expecting a bit more verve given the GC vintage label. #fatcork — 6 months ago

Second tasting one year apart.. still as charming. Raspberry colour, unfiltered. In addition to the varietal notes, the bouquet tends towards the peppery herbs, between tea, vetiver, rose, dried herbs. As the wine opens, notes of blood orange, or sangria, develop giving energy to the whole. The tannins are very fine but persistent, with chew. We would drink it from breakfast.
Deuxième dégustation à un an d’intervalle.. toujours aussi charmant. — 7 months ago
