Mise en Place Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

More time in bottle will benefit this wine but it’s really drinking well with a bit of a decant. Same comments as before. — 13 days ago

Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel 2016

Mr Jonathan Steeves critique nailed it. Really like this one. Can’t beat the price either. Didn’t catch the bubble gum until I read his tasting notes. Took me back to my high school girlfriend’s lipgloss. This is just as satisfying. — 4 years ago

Insignia - 30th Anniversary Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

What a terrific cab! Still a dark brooding young wine (at 17)! Wonderfully long finish and still excellent grip. During this confinement at least the Jonathan Club prepared prime rib dinners for grab&go! We are so appreciative of everyone efforts especially the JC & Phelps! — 2 years ago

If Six Was Nine Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

2009 vintage. Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with a little bit of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Serious juice from serious vineyards in Napa Valley (the lower slopes of Coombsville, Sugarloaf Mountain and Circle S, the latter one of the highest parts in the Napa Valley). Cassis, cedarwood, licorice and lead pencil, reminiscent of Pauillac. Concentrated, ripe black fruit, but not jammy. Powerful tannic structure and good acidity. Long finish with licorice and a distinctive minerality. Maltus obviously doesn't go for the easy commercial jammy style. Incredible Napa Valley value at 30 euro! Perfectly integrated 14,8% abv. — 4 years ago

Viognier 2017

Dedicated to our dear, dear friend, Susan Marks, who we miss dearly — RIP. We have been purchasing this lovely, mineral-infused Viognier since the early 2000s from Susan and Jonathan, my favorite California Viognier year in and year out, crisp, clean, showing some lovely stone fruit notes this vintage, just wonderful as always. — 2 years ago

Château Pezat

Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Delectable Wine

The 2015 Pezat Red, Jonathan Maltus's entry-level red, is flat-out delicious. Sweet red cherry and plum fruit are front and center in this racy, open-knit wine. There is much to like, including the wine's very accessible price. I would prefer to drink this succulent Saint-Émilion over the next few years, while the fruit retains its youthful vibrancy.
