Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

You have to be patient. Out of the gate everyone loved the Maybach which is just so delicious right out of the chute. Give it an hour (probably more) and this really starts to shine. Two hours into dinner this was amazing and just outshined the Maybach. To be clear I love both. Start with Maybach finish with this and just be incredibly happy. Happy anniversary. — 3 days ago

Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Merlot Blend 2015

This merlot/cab franc blend from Washington’s Red Mountain AVA is a killer! Needs no less than an hour decant. Extraordinary. Potent. Depth and tenacity. Gorgeous nose, seductive, lingering, really well-crafted. Cheers! — 7 days ago

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1991

This hasn’t yet shed its trademark austerity even at 30 years. It was actually better day 2(!) This was built to last to put it mildly and has a gruff, craggy nobility befitting its mountainous origins. Dried black fruits (plums and currants), pepper, leather, graphite, violets, chocolate, cloves — 2 days ago

Howell Mountain Old Vine Zinfandel 2015

Truncated party notes. Like a Second Growth Bordeaux made from Zinfandel. Nose showing more secondary and tertiary notes than fruit. Full and elegant. Great with grilled porterhouses. — 2 days ago

Grosgrain

Red Heaven Vineyard Grenache 2019

Laser focused - very well made and built for the long haul. This bright ruby red and translucent Grenache took 1-2 days to open up from its reductive slumber. Given grenache’s propensity to oxidation - one can tell the fruit and wine were handled with care. 15% whole cluster. Seek this team out @grosgrain — 12 days ago

Hillside Blend Howell Mountain Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

What a wine. Soft smooth edges. A nice blend of merlot and Cabernet that shows a lot of ripe red fruit balanced by the right amount of acid. A very long layered finish. This bottle was empty in a flash. This wine should age out for another 10 years but it is drinking great right now! — 4 days ago

Col Solare

Shining Hill Red Mountain Red Blend 2016

This is the least expensive wine Col Solare makes, about fiddy. It still fucks. Btw I’m drinking and scrolling and about to check in a LOT of wine sitting in my account I forgot about with extremely suspect notes based purely on drunken memory. 🎉 — 5 months ago

Little Sister Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Ok - another 2011 Napa cab that is much better than critics say - Thomas Rivers Brown is winemaker - the wine even could go another five years - with WNH gang - I was amazed at the vibrancy - deep rich purple color - good balance - length was shorter than hoped for but nose and palette were full of dark black cherries blackcurrents and tertiary notes of cedar tobacco and cocoa - a great QPR for a TRB Napa cab — 15 days ago
