Opened in advance of service; enjoyed over the course of an hours. This bottle of the 1979 pours a garnet color with significant rim variation; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with a mix of tart, ripe and dried, red and black fruits: red and black currants, blackberries, mixed dried flowers, tobacco, some green pepper, leather, dry gravelly earth, and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. These old vintages of Spring Mountain fly under the radar and the 1979 vintage is simply special. This might outlive me.

Amazing wine, so alive and integrated. Perfumed and balanced with great harmony and length. Classic Napa mountain cabernet profile, richly textured but still maintaining structural posture and elegance. Seems like it could keep going too. Love the depth and core of fruit it still has

Pam’s birth year wine. Still plenty of complexity to enjoy. Talking about both my wife and the wine.

Still youthful, tannin and acidity well integrated. Really consistent portfolio from Spring Mountain.

A great bottle. Powerful, dense and textured. Easily 10 more years ahead.

Oldest vintage I've ever tasted. The structure of the wine remained full after 30+ years. Very enjoyable vino

It was fabulous! Spring mountain cabs all have a more red fruit characteristic then black fruit! I highly recommend going to this winery!
