Ridge Vineyards

East Bench Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2018

Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruits and tangy spices. On the palate flavors of blackberry and raspberry with black pepper, tar, spice and a touch of earthy herbs. Fine rustic tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, earthy spice and some oak. Nice! — 20 days ago

Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2015

Wow! This is a hidden gem! Ripe color. Soft from start to finish but not boring. Plum. Tobacco. I would definitely buy again! — 18 days ago

Reserve Chardonnay 2018

On the nose, this is quite aromatic with sweet pears jumping out of the glass... On the palate, I'm again tasting apple-pear, but not as rich as perhaps the nose suggested it would be... Very balanced with the minerality here... Definitely some caramel here, but not in a way that would offend oak-haters... Just another note in the mix... This is almost full bodied... Quite substantial as you chew on it... Some baking spice here too as you savor, but the finish is just medium here and perhaps even "flabby" at the end where it seemed more precise upfront. — 3 days ago

Carmenere 2019

Wily and coy, leading me down a dusk-lit walkway of cobblestones and cascading ivy, whispering and beckoning through the shadows to a well hidden speakeasy entrance where it knows the doorperson. Must let it open for some minutes before tasting, let the demons out and then the softness reveals itself….

Oakville Bench

Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Nose: cassis, cherry, spices…booze. Wet stone. A little leather. Raspberry leaf. Good flavors, but smells a little cheap and thin.

Taste: Pretty good. Medium weight +, silky, very fruit forward. A strong herbal cassis finish. 89-90. Not a “good deal”, but probably worth the $20. Reminiscent of a proper Napa Cab, imagine that!

We really liked this. It was heavier and stronger but was well balanced and we just kept drinking it. Drank it at Granville Island in July 2022 — 22 days ago

Kastanienbusch Riesling 2020

Huge and expansive nose with peach flesh, lime zest and lime pith, gorgeous clear minerals and ocean breeze. Saline as well. Melon and cantaloupe as well. Gorgeous clarity of aroma as well. Palate is unreal. So compact and clean. Superb presence, purity and balance. Really accessible for a young Kastanienbusch. Juicy and fresh with such a wonderful acid and mineral balance. Amazingly pure with gorgeous citrus and peach fruit. Serene and complete with a hidden structure that suggests medium term aging. Finishes mineral and very juicy. Lingers. — 15 days ago
