Sure you could make a fancy drink but I like it as is. A perfect sipping vermouth...so lovely. — a month ago
Can work well with dark rum, old fashioned, or even martinez? — 6 months ago

Just about perfect, great maturity — 6 months ago
Fragrant & savoury and slowly entering the drinking window.
Dark, juicy cherries, a floral hint, a meaty whiff + a pinch of spice. Beautiful polished tannins that still grip this baby tight and juicy acidity balancing it out. Nice precision, good length + a great sense of place. This is a really fine wine!
Give it 1-2 hours in the carafe and it will shine! — 8 months ago
Still youthfully dark in color with a very slight browning on rim. Upon opening still very tight and shy on nose. Decided to decant this for 3.5h prior our Christmas dinner and it started to open around 3h mark. Then it was a great Barbaresco from Treiso offering slightly darker side of Nebbiolo expression with ripe cherry, some leather and smoke, fine pepper notes. Healthy acidity and fine tannins offers solid back bone for further aging and development. I take this is 2-3 years from peak and should continue to drink several years after that. Glad I have 2 more bottles. This was a fabulous qpr back then at 23€/bottle — 6 months ago
I hadn't had the trebbiano from Pepe for a looong time and the feeling is still similar
It needs time to open up
When young the palate is better than the nose
It is long and enjoyable
What has changed in time is unfortunately the price and i wondered if that is due to the market or because it has been harder to source or work the grapes
I used to pay it less than 15 euros back in Italy and I understand that time flies, but here in Melbourne this is on the shelf for 140 dollars.
I thank @Giulio Bignozzi for sharing this with me, but I struggle to realise the dynamics about its pricing..or maybe I just don't want to.
For 30 or 40 euros I would be happy to buy and drink this, but for 140 dollars I would pick elsewhere perhaps
It is also a natural wine if I remember well and I reckon there should be a bit of ethic behind that too. Still a very good wine nonetheless, but i couldn't keep the critic for myself. — 8 months ago
