Oooh…a fave pinot producer. The chards have usually had too much oak for me but they dialed the oak down on the pinots so maybe the same on the chards? Hitting a Foxen luncheon in 2.5 weeks and will “investigate.”
I wasn’t expecting much from Happy Canyon, but when I popped the cork & took a whiff I had to look at what I opened again, I don’t know how this taste & smells like an aged Bordeaux. Is it Foxen or is it the Grassini vineyard?
2018 vintage. Leaner and meaner than the last visit 11.18.21. Dusty sandalwood nose. Bright cherry and muted plum framed by a light/medium body. Angular but still fantastic. — 3 months ago
2017 vintage. Earth, black olives, lavender, dusty shroom action. Light-medium body with punch. Foxen really nailing it the last 5-6 years with pinot after a few years wandering in the overoaked wilderness. — 4 months ago

Best bud’s 40th birthday bottle. A little throw back as the first Foxen bottle that changed our lives was a ‘04 Sea Smoke. — 2 months ago
