Acid forward, limestone, good terroir
Smells like a town square in Burgundy, like limestone fountain and chalk

Ile des Vergelesses Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

Gave this a couple hrs of air in the btl that seemed to help this wine open & reveal notes of dark fruits, earth, mineral, forest floor, dried herbs & savory spices. — 4 months ago

Dark and inky. Sweet fruit, slightly tangy. Plum and hints of licorice. Plush and rounded on the palate. Good — 7 months ago

Pernand-Vergelesses Sous le Bois de Noel et Belles Filles Pinot Noir 2014

Amazing p/q. Dark, ruby. Lots of sauvage and smoked meat on the nose. Palate is balanced and marries sweet dark fruit concentration with spice and distinct floral/herbal perfume. Nice acid giving perfect balance. Almost Nuit Village level for 1/2 the price. — a year ago

Volnay Pinot Noir 2016

Dan R
9.1

Tight and reserved on opening, a 2 hour decant with periodic swirling helped open up this relatively brawny, structured Volnay. A bit shy on the nose, this a nicely dense midpalate and a darker hue, perhaps as a function of the vintage. Really shined with Beef Wellington. This Volnay showed dark berry fruit and plum, with lovely tannins on the finish, with enough structure to give focus, but supple enough to provide immediate pleasure. A very nice, good value village Burg, no problem to hold or drink with a short decant. — 7 months ago

Vigrinie Pillet Corton Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2007

What a Grand Olde Horse this must-have was: even on the down-stroke it was throwing up layers & notions & gems. Cranberries then cherries & al soft, soft, soft. Lovely, this. — a year ago
