Montagny 1er Cru “Les Terroirs” — Famille Masse (Fabrice Masse), 2024, Burgundy, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A refined Premier Cru Chardonnay from Montagny in the Côte Chalonnaise. Crafted in a clean, restrained Burgundian style, focused on precision, freshness, and terroir expression rather than oak weight.
Aromas & Flavors
Green apple, lemon zest, pear skin, white peach, crushed limestone, subtle almond and faint white blossom notes.
Mouthfeel
Light to medium body, dry, crisp and linear. Bright acidity keeps everything lifted and sharp. Clean finish with minimal oak influence and no buttery heaviness.
Food Pairings
Oysters, shrimp cocktail, ceviche, grilled white fish, scallops, goat cheese crostini, light seafood tapas.
Verdict
Elegant, delicate, and beautifully composed. A Chardonnay that prioritizes clarity and minerality over richness. Impressive restraint, classic, polished, and very much in the “clean Burgundy” lane.
Did You Know?
Montagny is the southernmost village of the Côte Chalonnaise dedicated exclusively to white wines. Premier Cru sites often deliver excellent value compared to Côte de Beaune counterparts.
🍷 Personal Pick
This is my kind of Chardonnay, crisp, mineral, and oak-disciplined (just a kiss of it). An easy opener that stays precise and delicious from first sip to last.

Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2024 – Rhône Valley, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A classic Southern Rhône white blend of 40% Grenache Blanc · 30% Viognier · and 30% Roussanne that balances generosity, texture, and food-driven structure. Grenache Blanc brings body and gentle warmth, Viognier lifts aromatics and stone fruit perfume, while Roussanne anchors the wine with tension, savory nuance, and age-worthy structure. This is not a “poolside pounder”, rather this is a kitchen wine. Built to sit comfortably next to food and evolve in the glass rather than shout upfront.
Aromas & Flavors
White peach, ripe pear, and apricot skin. Orange blossom and honeysuckle lift from the Viognier. Subtle almond, fennel seed, and light herbal notes. Hints of wet stone and gentle Mediterranean salinity. Soft citrus oil and chamomile on the finish
The profile leans expressive but grounded, aromatic without being flashy, textured without heaviness.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with a rounded entry, Creamy mid-palate supported by Roussanne’s natural grip. Fresh but not razor-sharp acidity. Soft phenolic texture gives structure and food compatibility.
Clean, gently savory finish with lingering orchard fruit. Balanced, composed, and quietly serious for its category.
Food Pairings
This wine absolutely shines with food: Grilled sea bass, branzino, or dorade. Roasted chicken with herbs de Provence. Seared scallops with citrus butter. Mediterranean vegetable dishes (zucchini, fennel, eggplant). Soft-rind cheeses, burrata, or young goat cheese. Olive oil–driven pastas and seafood risotto.
A true table companion — versatile and forgiving across cuisines.
Personal Pick
Always love a white Côtes du Rhône when it’s done right, this is exactly that. Honest, flexible, and delicious without trying too hard. A wine that adapts beautifully to food and keeps your palate engaged without fatigue. One of those bottles that quietly disappears over dinner because it simply works.
Did You Know?
Grenache Blanc provides weight and alcohol warmth in Southern Rhône whites, Viognier delivers aromatics and floral lift, while Roussanne contributes structure, aging potential, and savory complexity. This trio mirrors the same blending philosophy used in top white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, just in a more approachable, everyday expression. — 2 months ago

Mousset family has managed Clos Saint Michel for more than 6 decades, in Southern Rhône they have been active in wine for Much longer. Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruits, herb and spicy notes, blend of 40% Grenache and 30% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, all aged in older barrels. On the palate flavors of black cherry and ripe blackberry with cigar box and black pepper spice. Big firm tannins, nicely integrated, good balanced, long finish with solid ending. — 4 years ago
