Inky in color with a short purple rim.

Strong nose of blackberries, sweet plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, tobacco, chocolates and black pepper. Very dense.

Full bodied, big and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, espresso, vanilla, spices, chocolates, tobacco, light herbs, light alcohol and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Showing great complexity with a great mouthfeel. Nicely balanced, Rich and extracted.

This 9 year old is still young, but already drinking beautifully. Will continue to age nicely in the next 25 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and much better after 3 hours of airtime.

Complex, and easy to drink. Just wonderful. A good sipping wine that doesn't need food, but will also pair very nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. A small production of only 3,000 bottles.

14.6% alcohol by volume.

We found this bottle in my father in laws cellar and frankly didn’t know what it was at first. Apparently this was one of the original Cali cult wines...which had me pretty skeptical, though at “only” 13.5% alcohol I was left with some hope that it would not be an overripe jam bomb disaster. My ending verdict is that it’s actually quite nice, especially with some air. Lots of berry fruit, in a way that is certainly a bit over extracted. But this has mouth watering acidity - even after nearly 30 years - that really keeps this together, along with some nice lifting menthol at the end. Nice. — 7 years ago

In an evening of pleasant surprises, this may have been the biggest of them all. Perhaps it shouldn’t have been, but looking at the lineup of legends, can one blame me? Screaming Eagle is one of those wines you read about but rarely see, let alone get an opportunity to drink. An expensive, cult Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville? Hardly original these days (though it could be argued that Screaming Eagle was the OG for the “category”). But, this was not some anonymous OTT Napa Cab. This was a brilliant, impeccably balanced, varietally correct expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville and perhaps, one of the best I’ve ever had.

The 1997 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing (still) and utterly brilliant with perfectly wisened black currants, brambles, dried leaf, tobacco, Poblano pepper, purple flowers, salmiakki, a lovely mix of cool and warm spices and organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, silky and punctuated with pleasant minerals. Looking at the label and seeing 13.8% ABV brings a smile to my face. This wine has remarkable confidence. To say I’m impressed would be a gross understatement. I’m smitten. Drink now with some air and enjoy through 2047+. — 17 hours ago

This is built like a flagship Daiginjo: precision polish (35%), dry-leaning structure (SMV +5), and higher ABV that gives it torque and length rather than airy fade. The common lane is melon and tropical fruit on the nose, then a palate that feels tight, glossy, and more structured than most fruity Daiginjo, finishing clean but not thin.
Had this one again. Pricing was very fair compared to retail. This was my favorite of the two - it is silky smooth with a bit of weight on the palate. Aromatics are there and it doesn’t read sweet on the nose or flavor. Little bit of melon and super balanced. This is a great bottle and its freshness shines though it. Really like. — 8 months ago

Oh my! Love this wine. Super ripe style that is so hedonistic in its Nose, color, sweet dark cherry fruit.
