Have you tried Pinot Noir from Alsace 🇫🇷 - a region best known for its “noble” white varieties, i.e., Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, & Muscat?
 
It’s a real treat and this one is a rare gem, produced by Domaine Weinbach, a family-run estate since 1898 (though the winery was first established in 1612 by Capuchin friars), in the Village of Kayserberg. In honor of these 17th Century origins, the label features an image of a friar carrying a basket of grapes. 🍇🍇

Domaine Weinbach is one of the most celebrated estates in Alsace thanks in large part to the leadership of matriarch Colette Faller, working alongside her two daughters, Catherine and Laurence. 👏🏻👏🏻

Since the devastating loss of Colette and Laurence, the estate remains in the loving hands of Catherine now joined by her sons (Colette’s grandsons), continuing the family’s legacy & commitment to excellence in winemaking. ♥️♥️

Grapes for this wine came from the prized Altenbourg Vineyard, farmed biodynamically and organically. 🌱
 
This wine has a pale ruby hue (on its way to garnet) and bouquet of Morello cherry, raspberry, red plum, rose, toast, cardamom, mushroom, & forest floor notes. On the palate, it offers firm acidity, fine-grained, supple tannins, high alcohol (14.5% ABV), and a combination of elegance, nuance, finesse, and complexity. — 8 months ago
