Domaine des Amethystes Chiroubles Gamay 2018

A racy Chiroubles. Charming purple dress, medium concentration and beautiful brilliance. Superb peppery nose, airy between bright floral bouquet (Rose, Iris) and vibrant fruits (cherry and raspberry). Concentration, as expected on solar vintages. The mouth is fresh, tense, with few tannins but beautiful chew. Great drinkability, served refreshed (12/14 degrees) and airy, it's a dangerous drink!

Un Chiroubles racé. Charmante robe violine- pourpre, concentration moyenne et bel éclat. Superbe nez poivré, aérien entre bouquet floral éclatant (Rose, Iris) et fruité vibrant (cerise et framboise). De la concentration, comme attendu sur les millésimes solaires. La bouche est fraîche, tendue, avec peu de tanins mais de la belle matière. Belle buvabilité, servi rafraîchi (12/14 degrés) et aéré, c’est une boisson dangereuse!

Presented double-blind. Wine pours a deep ruby and slightly turbid; slight staining of the tears. On the nose, bruised strawberry, some cedar notes, olive brine, cranberry and dried green herbs. On the palate, the wine is bright with mostly red fruits. There’s a slight prick to the tongue. The wine is dry with medium+ acid, medium tannin. Thought it was from Burgundy. Called 2017 Bourgognon Rouge. Dufaitre is making some really enjoyable wines. — 15 days ago

Fleurie Gamay 2019

Certainly one of the best bottles of Métras I've had. It was just so captivating, with sweet red fruits, roses, and Indian spices bursting out of the glass. Blinded, I went back to the wine time and time again out of shear pleasure instead of scrutiny for identification. Oops, the cat’s out of the bag! There was just this purity and vibrancy that made it so drinkable. How could I resist. Plus the fine, yet “slippery” texture made it so intriguing. Ended long with lively acids and great salinity. As for the blind - played the man and thought it was one of those new age Spanish producers. The sweetness of the fruit and spices threw me a curveball too. Nevertheless, it never took away from how magical this bottle was. A one on the binary scale! — 20 days ago

Julienas Gamay 2018

Light ruby color, beautiful shine. Nose: bright red fruits (strawberry, cherry), peppery, and mineral. Lively mouth with a slamming acidity, constituting the red thread of this tasting, balanced by gourmet notes of juicy fruit, and a beautiful chew in the mouth, with very fine tannins, as expected. Served at 12/13 degrees in summer, it is a perfect treat. 2018 is beginning to reveal welcome evolution notes, supporting a discreet oak aging. To be tasted absolutely within 1/2 years.

Robe rubis claire, belle éclat. Nez fruits rouges éclatants (fraise, cerise), poivrée, et minérale.
Bouche vive avec une acidité claquante, constituant le fil rouge de cette dégustation équilibré par des notes gourmandes de fruits juteux, et une belle matière en bouche, avec des tanins très fins, comme attendu. Servi à 12/13 degrés en été, c’est une parfaite friandise. 2018 commence à laisser poindre des notes d’évolution bienvenues, soutenant un boisé d’élevage discret. A regoûter absolument d’ici 1/2 ans.

Medium red color with ample bricking. Nose contains lots of rust with some minerals and blood. Medium minus depth with hardly any fruit. Very earthy and grassy. Medium finish. Probably over the hill as this usually has big, bright fruit. — 12 days ago

Les Champs-Grillés Saint Amour Gamay 2018

Nose is lively, with equal parts fruit and cracked stone. The fruits are bright and ripe and tangy. Also a bit of spice. In the mouth, the zingy and assertive fruit is still there, but it’s in a surprisingly structured package. Bone dry, good acids, even some chalky tannins in the back half of the palate. Atypically for a Saint Amour, it seems like it could improve for another couple of years.

This 2018 is an interesting and difficult wine. Not a lot of common aroma and flavors. Hints of lemon, kumquat limestone, salt, citrus rinds. An acquired taste, and certainly not your house Chard. For an intriguing change of pace this is a must try. — an hour ago

Popped and poured; no formal notes. I found this bottle of the 2018 Juliénas to be good…but not on the level of enjoyment that I get from Lapierre’s standard Morgon. It’s very pretty and floral…and a bit natty with some barnyard funk reminding you that these wines see the lightest of touches. A nice, somewhat rustic wine. Perhaps I’m being a bit harsh…but the Morgon is so compelling in comparison. Drink now. — a day ago

These old Brouilly are really incredible! Intense notes of peppery wild strawberries, truffle evolution, undergrowth, dried flowers, blood orange.. the finish is persistent, like the fragrances of a perfume, intertwining fine tannins and endless acidity veins, with light bitters welcome.

Ces vieux Brouilly sont vraiment incroyables! Notes intenses de fraises de bois poivrées, évolution truffe, sous-bois, fleurs séchées, orange sanguine.. la finale est rémanente, tel les fragrances d’un parfum, entrelaçants tanins fins et nervures d’acidité sans fin, avec de légers amers bienvenus.
