A hot, but balanced blend. Oil and leather in the nose. Dark fruits, prunes, blackberry, leather in the mouth. — 9 days ago

Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Cabernet Franc - Merlot Blend 2011

Strong earthy nose of oak bark and loam. Black cherry, blackberry and currant reduction, cinnamon sticks and clove inform the nose. Plums of red and black just underripe, tart cherry, dried raspberry, tarragon, rosemary, dried violets and graphite shimmers. Young and juicy, much more to give! .

Château Cheval Blanc

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

I don’t have a stellar track record when it comes to drinking rock star Bordeaux. The hype always lurks, even though I served this blind to my homie. Interestingly, it’s a sweet wine with layers of cedar interspersed with ribbons of gorgeous red and some black fruits, especially high toned cassis. Great intensity of course & felt the tannins were well integrated at 12years. Clearly the mono-sweetness would transition to tertiary flavors with age, but with life so precious these days, I wasn’t waiting. — 21 days ago

Brave that you served this blind. Yes not all of these are super awesome and 2009 was a hot year.

Red Bordeaux blend from Argentina. Relatively bold with subtle tannin and acid. Dry smokey, oaked, dark fruits. Went well with oxtail tacos and brisket with friends. — a month ago

Cheval des Andes

Mendoza Malbec Blend 2011

Pop and pour. An astonishing dark ruby red (as best I could tell in the low restaurant light). On the nose: muted notes of black cherry, spice, pine, smoke, floral. Taste: smooth, soft, elegant medium body wine with dark berries, cedar, tar, black pepper, pencil lead, and licorice. Cheers! — a month ago

Château de Francs

Les Cerisiers Côtes de Francs Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2015 vintage. Co-owned by Hubert de Boüard (Angélus) and Dominique Hebrard (ex-Cheval Blanc). 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Attractive nose with truffle, red fruit and spices. Fresh and elegant, with perfectly integrated oak, a nice ripe tannic bite and good walnutty length. Terrific value at 12 euros. — a month ago
