Not my style but surprisingly well-balanced for something so big/fruit-forward/sweet — 6 years ago
A wine we brought back from a wine bistro called Boconariz in Santiago a couple of years ago, this is absolutely terrific. Beautiful, intense red-purple color, the tannins are sweet and rich with a great hint of camphor on the nose. Well-integrated tannins with a rich mouthfeel, that camphor component is a bit more amplified on the palate, but not overwhelming by any means. Lingering, balanced finish. Hard to gauge how much longer this will continue to develop, but my guess is that’s it’s peaking right now. Terrific example of a carmenere! — 7 years ago

A big Sangiovese with some punch to it, this is a great general purpose food wine. Predominant flavors are cherry and dark plum, with some acidity to the finish. It is fuller bodied than the average Sangiovese, pairing nicely adobo loco steak with poblano, corn, and crispy potato hash. Bellissimo! — 9 years ago
Huge olive, big earthy herbal notes, almost eucalyptus. Bright sour cherry, chalky and alive, long bitter finish. It is a weird and beautiful beast...back one hour later. Huge metamorphosis to a dark fruit bomb with butter brioche and bitter chocolate. In Mexico they call this El vino loco. — 9 years ago

Cor intensa mas não vibrante. Corpo médio. Aroma de frutas e um pouco de álcool. O sabor é de vinho maduro e com amadeirado bem evidente. — 5 years ago

Jammy, fruity, nice drinkable wine. Had at Pasta Loco — 8 years ago
A sumptuous marriage of Sangiovese and Cabernet. Deep garnet color and a bountiful nose of dark fruit and earth. Still fresh on the mid-palette, even for an '09, with cocoa notes, firm tannins and plenty of pepper on the finish. Don't get mad, but I paired it with some Pollo Loco for a random dinner with The Wife on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Turns out it was a match made in heaven (both the wine and wife pairing hehe). — 9 years ago
A nice discovery in a right place. Dulce est desipere in loco, as the etiquette says. Thanks to Stefano, at Sant'Ambroeus. — 9 years ago
Importado por Bodegas Compostela y disponible en Oscar Cash & Carry. Muy rico, combinado esta noche con rodaballo, arroz con langosta y ensalada con aguacate. — 10 years ago

Valdivieso of Chile, central valley, Caballo Loco #8. 14% alc. This blend is unknown as the grapes are not mentioned on the bottle. The color is ruby red with a tint of brown like we see in most French wines. The bouquet is like an Italian Sangiovese with hints of blueberry pie and dandelions. The palate is characteristic of dark cherry and blueberry and a hint of dark currant. There is a slight hint of oak and moss. No spice, no other real flavors that I can detect. A very simple wine. The finish is quick and mildly dry. Not my favorite, but not bad for a South American wine. — 8 years ago
Deep fruit, Lang after taste. Good. Come think about it, its like a re-badged toro loco from ALDI. — 9 years ago
