Buisson Charles

Charles Heidsieck

Brut Réserve Champagne Blend

Charles "Champagne Charlie" Heidsieck was one of the first to recognize the importance of the U.S. as a Champagne market. A blend with 40% reserve wines, fruit and floral bouquet, with orange blossom & yeasty notes. Fine bubbles, nice mousse, showing quality. Outstanding rich flavors of apple, pear and biscuit, well balanced, good structure, creamy. Long finish ending with toasty nutty oak & mineral notes. — 13 hours ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

This wine has an interesting history. Please read the pro ratings. It was rather pricey and in my opinion - not great value for money. Yes, highly drinkable. Went well with faro, asparagus parm risotto and some filet tips. Everyone enjoyed. Somewhat fruit forward, somewhat juicy, deep red color - fine and everyone enjoyed it. However, you can definitely find something better at the price point that would satisfy and pair with food equally well if not better. Don’t mean to knock it - since I have 2 bottles remaining - but meh! — a month ago

Rosé Réserve Brut Champagne Blend

The Vinloq System was designed for still wines only. However, we love sparkling wines too.

👃Very expressive nose with nice interplay between the predominant minerality and the brioche, strawberries, marzipan, and florals

👅A rich and assertive profile with plenty of acidity and crisp bubbles that deliver energy and joy. It is both assertive and pretty. Just the right amount of sweetness keeps the fruit fresh and delicious. Long finish. Great with food or easily has enough verve to drink on it's own.

Drinking well. Excellent value for a rose from a major Champagne house🥂🥂

M.C.K. (Motor City Kitty) Syrah 2018

14.5% abv. One of the more assertive offerings in the K Line. Savory and aromatic with violets, bramble, smokey BBQ, olive, camphor, and wild dark fruits. Long decant if drinking now, has the stuffing for another decade. — 2 months ago

Conundrum Proprietary California Red Blend 2020

The blend is somewhat of a mystery but has Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Petite Syrah grapes, maybe a splash of something else from year to year. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and an array of spices. On the palate flavors of black plum, raspberry and cacao with notes of toasty oak, baking spices and earthy notes. Fine tannins, medium finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy notes. Chill in frog for about 15-20 minutes before serving. Pair this with grilled pork or bbq meal. — 12 days ago

Getting past it's prime, a lot of oak and acid has diminished. Still tasty though. — 2 months ago

One of the bottles I provided for a co-hosting with Mark at the City Club wine group. The starter before Mark’s 1979 Schramsberg mag and 1980 Montelena mag.

Tasty, but I found this different than the 2014 (still haven’t popped the 2015). Salmon color in the glass with a dash of pink. Faint strawberry marscapone, red berry fruit aromatically. Layers of strawberries and a distinct mineral and rose note, but this seemed lighter and less fruit forward than the 2014. Lovely finish. I felt the 2014 had loads of time ahead of it when I had it, but for me, this seemed either in an odd spot or at a point where it’s time to enjoy. I’d wager it’s more of the former.
