Can’t say I’d reach for a sweet fortified muscat by choice, but this wasn’t too bad. Expectedly rich with notes of ripe exotic fruits and candied citrus peels. While there was not much going on beyond that, it did go exceedingly well with some blue cheese. Having said that, I would have preferred to have matched the cheese with the sweet energy of a Spatlese or grandoise of a Sauternes. — 12 days ago
Juicy, effervescent. Raspberry. Playful and delicious — 8 days ago
Another grand slam from Sylvain Bernard. Nose is ultra granite. Some black berry but man is this stoney. Smells like the Cornas but more Burgundian. Maybe the most expressive mineral nose I’ve ever had in a St. Joseph. 9.8 nose. This is doing it for me. It is so expansive. Intoxicating. The level of herbs are incredible. Just a knockout. Elegant and deep on the palate with terrific ripeness and intense concentration. But man is this painfully young. Awesome blancs, purity and length and so juicy with intense mineral grip. This needs to flesh out and the fruit needs to become more prominent. It will. My last French wine for a while! — 7 days ago
A solid Côte-du-Rhône, in terms of quality/price/pleasure ratio. Dark garnet-violin dress. Complete nose, intense black fruits, menthol, garrigue, mineral notes promising a beautiful relief. In the mouth it is very balanced, supple, fruity, peppery (syrah), licorice and spicy nuances with fruit and minerality. Superb for its price!
— 3 days ago
Stewed fruit and red candy. Nice spicy notes. A dusty violet smell. Cherries. Also some cocoa, black licorice and woody tannins on the finish. Elegant overall, this shows an expressive, not overly modern approach. While I find myself wishing it was a touch less ripe and sweet, that is the style I suppose. — 8 days ago
2021 vintage. "Mule Blanche" is Jaboulet's white flagship Crozes-Hermitage, a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne from 40 years old estate vineyards. Expressive nose bursting with white fruit, flowers and fresh herbs. Bright and crisp fruit with mouthwatering acidity and a distinctive minerality. Very long minty finish. Hard to resist now, but should age well. Abv. 13% . — 3 days ago
