What I need in Chardonnay, so sublime, so subtly nuanced like you sometimes cannot see the layers of tulle through the tutu but the more you pay attention the more each layer shows its contribution, so freshly vibrant of apple juice but that seems too prosaic, it’s the softest and yet acid apple you’ve ever encountered. Honeycomb flounces, allspice veneers all displayed on an altar of zen—the water flowing eternally over pebbles. I am frequently happy for Chardonnay but haven’t been so taken on a ride I never want to end in recent memory — 2 months ago

A natural, low intervention take on Argentinian Malbec. The nose is dark cherry forward, with nice savoury touches, a bit of black pepper, some menthol, the palate is very well done : acid driven, but with some width and matter, a dusty mouthfeel all along, that turns grainy in the rear when tannins kick in, black pepper, that umami, savoury note all along and a rather long finish with the same notes along with that grainy texture. This is a thirst quenching everyday drinker, I mean, look at that price too?! How can you say no. Apples and honeyed pears out of the glass, a bit of a soft floral touch too. Crushed stone and this zesty lemon rind flavor. Lovely.

Nose has grilled lemons, lemon buttercream, lime zest, distant brown butter, orange zest, dried apricot and (minor) struck flint.

Palate has dried lemon peel, pineapple core, buttercream, toasted walnuts, warm banana with faint sweetness on the very long finish with medium acidity. A great wine, decanted 4H and will appreciate at least another 3-4H of opening. Future bottles may be 2024-26+. Very good now, maybe one of the best FLX Chardonnay's I've experienced.

Partial Appassimento method for a portion of the grapes, really yields some extra character and depth to the wine. Only guy doing this in the FLX, Morten Hallgren, to the best of my knowledge. I'm coming to the altar here, it's the right way to handle his Chardonnay style. 👍

So totally impressed with how this wine has continued to please over time. When selecting a value wine to enjoy in volume at our wedding I knew this was the one as soon as I tasted it. It took a while for us to get to the altar, but the wine held up and we drank an anniversary bottle today. Could have hung on much longer, but great with our lamb chops tonight. Called out for the meat and slight eucalyptus aroma and taste brightened it up. One more bottle for next anniversary. Interested in seeing what will happen. — 14 years ago
