#grenache from #barossa #barossavalley sort of a #village wine I really enjoyed it. It’s nice to see a large winery like Yalumba be versatile and grow wines like this one. Pale ruby color. Reminiscent in aspect and aromas to a Pinot, more savory and spicy on the palate with higher alcohol than a Pinot. Oak nice and subtle and well-integrated. #australian

Oct 30th, 2020Simple wild berries and dried flowers on a light, translucent ruby substrate. Soft, juicy, and notably shallow on the palate. Hides it’s alcohol well. Perfectly tasty if a bit one-dimensional.

This is a wine that makes me understand why some call Grenache the Pinot noir of the south. A fine and silky red rendition. Less ripe than last night’s cannonau it’s all red fruit (fresh and stewed) and white pepper and the leather and herbal earth come in later and lighter. I really like this. It stands without food.
