Kirchberg Grosse Lage Riesling

Just what I needed
A superb example of a dry German riesling with great personality and depth

Lean and somewhat obvious. Green apples and white flowers. Gonna' be awesome in a few years.

A great and stunningly pure Riesling from the sometimes tricky 2014 vintage. Still unevolved and backward but there's plenty of structure underneath, meaning that patience is required, at least a few years.

Light golden color, intensely flavorful, almost overwhelming. Very dry on the palate, with notes of Lemon, lemon pithe, mineral. Vibrant acidity with a Bitter aftertaste.

Nice dry Riesling, although more sour and lemony than I prefer. A good value.

Is this wine in decline?
Lots of bitterness and ferrous acidity in the finish...

Rich, unctuous and concentrated dry Riesling, but - kudos to the 2008 acidity - by no means flabby. Great tension, slatey minerals and deep orange fruit notes (tangerine, peach and guave). A very delicate hint of savoury crustaceans really adds to the complexity! Beautiful wine.
