Jun 14th, 2024Complex and showing some great tertiary notes while maintaining plenty of freshness and life ahead. Smoke, yellow peach, chanterelles, honey, tumbled rocks. Zingy acid brings a lot of life and its mineral core contributes to an already complex texture. I think this will be absolutely stunning at its 10-12th birthday

Mar 26th, 2016Very good but not as good as the Pechstein and Ungehauer. A nice nl mix of white fruit flavors and a touch of sweetness. I suspect this wine will improve significantly with another 5 years of aging. Some pineapple and passion fruit. Finishes with citric acid.

Feb 23rd, 2023Recently bought a sixpack of these. Popped one today to quench my curiosity.
Read two TNs from some high-bore winecritics in advance and I was struck by the difference in those notes.
Schildknecht (for Vinous) had a sample which elicited descriptions like: “seductive, soothing, decadent, opulent, ripe, exotic, glycerol-rich, overripe peachiness”.
While Reinhardt wrote for the Wine Advocate words like: “clear, precise, crushed stones, lemon juice, pure, salty, elegant”. And also “There is no richness of fruit and no alcohol that tries to impress you; everything here is terroir and subtle winemaking”.
My bottle resembles the latter: it’s cool, strict, focussed, lemony, stony and full of potential.
Will wait at least 2 years before opening the next one.

Wow, is this good. Would not guess Pfalz or even German. Green neon color and rainbow of flavors. 🦀 🦀

Aug 20th, 2022End cap to an epic weekend in WA. I’ve been skeptical of VW but between this and the Ozeytra I am converted.

Apr 5th, 20222015 is still crystal clear and fresh as hell. Exotic fruit/florals, fresh cut grass?straw? Precise. Devastating.
