Trimbach
Geisberg Grand Cru Riesling
Geisberg, Ribeauvillé, Alsace, France

From magnum. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2016 Geisberg pours a straw color with medium viscosity and some tartaric acid crystals. On the nose, the wine is developing with lifted notes of tropical fruit, lemon/lime citrus, petrol, bees wax and steely minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long with racy minerality. There is so much energy in this bottle, wow! Really delicious stuff that just got better the longer the bottle was open. Drink now with patience through 2046.

2021 Independence Day Party 🇺🇲 🥳 with several members of our Tastevin crew and extended friends.🍷 Proof that our palates are wider than Burgundy, outside of sanctioned events.🍾 Notes may be light, scores will be honest. 💯

Inaugural Release of this Grand Cru from old vines leased from the Convent of Ribeauville that formerly went into Trimbach’s GC Osterberg
The nose dominated by flint out of the gate but revealing marzipan, honeysuckle, and mango after a few hours ~ mango purée, peach nectar, rainbow sherbet, lime and pineapple hard candy coat the palate which finishes dry by way of lanolin, crushed minerals and an almost white pepper-ness
Torn between appreciating the dry finish yet craving more acidity...

Perfect with coq au Riesling. Still a bit muted at this stage. Smoky, petrol, fine acid and balance. Hold.
