Riserva Vigna Pedale Castel del Monte Nero di Troia

This full varietal wine - 100% Nero de Troia - is tinted medium dark ruby. The nose is somewhat muted upon opening, but shows dark fruit - blackberry, plum - laced with an earthy minerality and a whiff of smoke. The palate has the dark fruit up front, and the sip is smooth. Spices liven up the taste, but they do not seem over-oaked. The tannins are well integrated and provide ample food-friendliness without getting in the way of the mouthfeel. The finish is medium-long and the minerals play through to the end.

Pretty solid rustic Nero di Troia. Probably the best of my 4-5 samples of this grape. 3 bicchieri is a stretch but it’s not like the Gambero Rosso guys don’t make worse calls.

16+/20 (88+/100) Вино с ароматом черешни, чернослива, бальзамика и кисловатой нотой кожи. Высокая, колючая кислотность и довольно интенсивные, но гладкие по текстуре танины. Молодо.

100% native grape Nero di Troia. Similar to sangiovese. Floral, fress fruit notes. A hint of oak notes. Good medium acidity, sour cherry and plum. Nice with antipasto and light food.

Nose : closed.

Palate: a bit acid forward. Not much fruit. Tart.

Too much extraction

Interesting heel of the boot Italian indigenous red wine.

Bottle we had was very musty when opened. Improved a lot with airing, but would like to try again. Think there's a good wine under there.

A fun mix between Merlot and Zinfandel. Sweet but still a nice body to it. What’s lacking in structure is made up for in character.
