Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese
Brunello is one of my wife’s favorite wines, so she was pretty excited when this press sample showed up last week. Wonderfully silky with that powdery tannic grip that Sangiovese can offer, this is a classic old-school expression of Brunello - with gorgeous cherry, sandalwood, dried herbs and floral high notes. Fantastic acidity brings a dried orange peel quality to the finish and keeps the wine quite fresh as those dried herb notes soar for quite some time.

Apr 6th, 2021The wine shows a medium ruby tint in the glass. The nose gives off aromas of black cherry and licorice, plum and tobacco. It is as complex as one might imagine for a wine which spent two and a half years in oak. On the palate, there is red fruit along with some savory notes of earth and oak spice. The tannins are supple and the acidity is refreshing. This is a wine to pair with a special steak or game dish.

Mar 29th, 2021Brought from a guest to the house to accompany a dinner last week. My first time trying this producer. It was actually a pretty interesting wine. Definitely made in a more traditional style. Bright cherries and dried herbs. Definitely some Brett but only enough to make it charming. A rustic BdM.

Jul 16th, 2016Lifted fragrance of red fruits with a rustic vanilla cedar liquorice backbone. The age is adding savoury complexity, evolving through each taste. Great palate with tannins and acid. Drinking great.

Jan 13th, 2016Raspberry preserves, oolong tea, blood, cardamom. Chalky midpalate. This is such a killer little wine.

Oct 24th, 2015Tenuta di Sesta 2010. This winery consistently turns out well made brunellos. This wine is backed with cherry cordial, tea spices, and dried flower tones. A hell of a value.
